Painting over oil stain on timber

Hello,

We have a shiplap timber house that we have used a cedar stain on for
many years.

We now want to paint it a light gray with white trim.

What advise should we take on board to do this?

Any suggestions for the type of paint, how many coats etc.

oil primer and two coats of 100% acrylic latex
