I guess Queenie is on her way already... but got a question; if
you're going to Korea in a big jet airplane, which way do you go?
East or West? I guess it would be shorter to go West but it just
doesn't sound right to go West when the flight is starting from the
East Coast of the U.s. Oh wait! Fuel. I bet it would be cheaper to
refuel in L.A. or something before heading out over the ocean.

I wonder if she'll try the chilled raw calf liver appetizer this time?

Get out yer globe. (or watch the rerun of Dr. Strangelove) The straight line
from OH to Korea goes over Alaska

Oh yeah we're talking about someone who is still fucking using a
dialup modem. I'm gonna go with no. Actually that sounds way too
gross even for me. What is up with those slants and eating stuff raw
when normal peoples cook crap like that.

Hey it's been awhile and I forgot but I think you is like the NAV
geek. My car has a Garmin 430n built into the dash so it's not
portable. I'm trying to find out if I can update it or even check
how current it is. From the short trips I've done so far it looks
like some of the data is old and could use an update. I only found
one comment about it and they said the updates were only once a year
and on DVD that you had to buy. This sort of sucks in my opinion and
was hoping you might know something.

I just downloaded that POI Loader from the Garmin site so that cute
bionic babe can tell me where the speed cameras are and stuff. This
one says you can config it on your computer and transfer it with a
USB mem stick so at least I can do that.

Another free app at their site is called BaseCamp and it will let
you set up routes and stuff and tranfer them from your computer to
what they call "your device" but my hunch is this is only for the
portable devices. Would be great if it worked with my in-dash unit
because it's a whole lot easier doing this on a computer rather than
the little screen in the car.

Seems the built in Garmin ought to have some update package included.

I've only got the portable Garmins and they give a "free" update if you log
on and d/l it within 30 (or 60? not sure) days of purchase. I want them to
add a new voice selection too. Why can't they put a nice sultry female voice
option?

From what I can tell so far, the Garmin site and all the apps they
have are mostly for the portable Garmins. The BaseCamp program is
really nice on the computer but the transfer of data is done by
hooking your portable unit directly to the computer with the USB
cable. There's an export function and I tried that but there's no
option that I could find to import the file into the dash unit. I
think the moral of this story is to only get a portable unit. With
the OEM install in the car you basically get what they give you and
nothing else.

Looks like she's already on the job:

Thirty officials of the North Korean regime who were involved in talks with
South Korea have been executed or died in "staged traffic accidents,"
according to a human rights report.

I try not to think about some of the stuff Agent Queenie is involved
in. It's serious business. She was telling me about some new weapon
they assigned her, I think she called it a Bidet, was hard to
understand because of all the strange noises on the line. Something
about how advanced it was and all the new buttons and options and
stuff and cleaning her secret weapon etc. I asked what that was and
she just giggled. maybe better I don't know everything.

Yeah but I wanna know anyway.

Anyway, I guess Agent Queenie is headed back to Jiffyville or is
already back. Maybe she has some interesting tales to tell us about
her adventure. One thing that's cool is the iPad or I guess any
portable device like that comes in pretty handy these days since
they have wifi everywhere now. And even the Nooks will let you post
to websites and upload pictures etc. You can use a smart phone of
course but something like a Nook or iPad is a lot easier to use with
the larger screens. But, I'm still searching for the perfect mobile
device. The iPad is too big and the Nook is too small. The Nook is
great for books but it's too small for the web; it's better than a
smart phone but I guess I'm looking for something sort of in between
the iPad and Nook.

There's talk about a 7" iPad to be released this October. But why
are they going all the way from a 10 inch screen to a 7 inch? That's
the same size as the Nook. Gimme a break; why not something just a
little bigger? An 8 inch screen sounds about right to me.

And why would anyone go for a 7 inch iPad? The Nook is an Android
device with removable memory and plays movies and music just as good
as any Apple device. The difference between the Apple closed system
and the Androids which are not totally open but a hell of a lot more
open than anything Apple sells... this is a whole nuther topic. I'm
just still sort of down on Apple after trying to load music into the
computer in my car. The iPod was a total no go deal but with my
droid phone it was a piece of cake. Why couldn't I do the same thing
with an iPod or iPad or anything from Apple? I would really like to
hear an answer on this one. We already know why, but will Apple
actually admit that it's all about forcing their customers to use
their iCloud crap... which is NOT free btw. Why? Why dammit?

LOL sorry 'bout the rant... just for grins I plugged my little Sony
MP3 player into the USB port in my car and yep I could copy anything
from that little device, which is not even a droid. I think.
Whatever, sort of figured I could do that.

Oh fuck you; I'm not sorry. Apple totally sucks!

Dear Mr. Grouchy Serpent Esq.,

Go to sony.com and check-out their tablets ... dammit! I just looked
and they *may* have exactly what you're looking for ... or not ... who
knows.

Oh you're just too goddamn sweet.

I'm assuming you're talking about their Table S with the 9.4"
screen? I'd like to compare it with the iPad by actually holding it
and see if it is any smaller and easier to lug around. My guess is
it's about the same size. But... it runs Android. That's fantastic.
Looking at the specs, it has a slot for external memory and that
makes it a better deal, in my opinion, than the iPad for sure. The
only thing that worries me is the slot is a full-size SD card slot.
That might not be a big deal. There was mention of that being a
problem in the reviews but I really don't see why it would be,
except you can't take the SD chip and plug in right into another
Android device that only has a microSD slot. It also has a USB port,
which the iPad has too... except... since this one runs Android I'd
expect it to let you access all the files you store on it.

I like it... but... still looking...

Have you actually held one in your own little hands?

No ... I have not held one. There is a Sony store in the Galleria in
Dallas, and I keep wanting to go look at the fun gadgets, but that's a
mess for parking, plus it's a good distance from my house. Plus ... I
need a new vacuum more than a tablet.

Good luck with your quest. Let us know what you get.
