"Your monthly Verizon Online charges have been submitted to your credit card
company. This month's total charges are $49.98 and will appear on your
credit card statement as a charge from "Verizon Internet Sol" 12 days after
the bill date. The monthly charges do not reflect credits or adjustments
that may be applied prior to debiting."
All other bills have been $24.99
I called but some bitch transferred me to billing. I waited a few mins and
then some damn voice activated thingy asked if my question had to do with
windows7, I said no and it said it couldn't help me, went back to main menu
and asked for billing and the bastards were closed, so I called AT&T and
they want 22.95 a month and a real person answered the phone......no voice
activated crap menu. So depending on what VOL says tomorrow I may switch,
AT&T still has newsgroups access I think. I just hate changing my email
address, have had it for about 8 years.
Whats strange is if you select new services at VOL, ,dial up is not a
option, so if you say fios or DSL the bastards know what phone number you
are calling from and say the service is not avail in my area but I can be
put on a list to be notified....no way that will happen cause RoadRunner and
AT&T have it all locked up here.
I am going to crosspost to another group so I don't have to repeat
myself.......but I am really really pissed off right now so maybe it's a
good thing VOL is closed. I bet AT&T calls me tomorrow, I told them I
wanted to wait until I found out what VOL was up too and I would call them.
Anyway thanks for the suggestion ;-)
Donna
And no crap from the jiffy gallery about moving up to high speed
access.......I like my dial-up connection and phone that plugs into the
wall....my cell phone holds a charge for 2 months.....cause I never use it!

IIRC they also dropped Usenet.
Oh brother...no biggy I have group access via a pay per view service. Geesh
do any of the big ISP's still have group access?
Barely any left in the US.

Dang, that's really, really steep. When we had DSL, I think it was around
$45 a month. I have Comcast Business Class and I pay $64.90 a month and
that includes business email and web services as well as up to 20000kbps
download and on a good day, as much as 6000kbps upload. I still have my
email only account with my old ISP, but that costs only $5 a month for two
mailboxes.
Verizon is ripping you off.

Well it will be interesting to find out.
I had a giga account a few years ago and it was great.
> (and, yes. get highspeed! iss cheap, like you can get it less than
> 30 bucks a month!) <G>
NO NO NO!
Weel, I had just signed up for another year or two for our triple play.
Was going to be $110 plus $20 for 2 STBs plus taxes and fees. I was
thinking ~$135/mo total. Got the first bill notice, and it was $165!!!
Called and the nice lady (Mrs Karim, I believe) said OK, we will credit
you back the $20 charged for gaming and a credit for this and for that,
because you only want barebones 25/15 internet. I was then reassured
that I would not be charged $165 Nov 4 but the charge would be something
like $125. I again asked when the credit would be applied, since last
time it took 6 month to get a correct bill. Mrs. Karim said, can't you
hear, you will be charged $125, the credit is applied before this charge
goes out.
We will see.
As far as AT&T is concerned, I placed a wireles order to change from
Sprint, through my employer discount Premier site. Ordered an iPhone for
me, and the simplest Samsung for spouse, because she wants a phone, no
faldera. Received the iPhone. Works great and I love it (so far). No
Samsung. Another iPhone arrived, and I had to call to get a return
label. After something like 8 hours on the phone in total, we did get a
Samsung, and it works. Now waiting for the bills because I think the
charges are royally screwed up.

I had a verizon cell and the service was great, the quality good but dumped
em after the contract period was up, the max time I used over 3 years was
about 10 hours a month<G> and was paying 40 something. The iphone has
caught my interest or blackberry, I am traveling to S.Korea next spring and
it would be neat to have email access so I am waiting to see if verizon gets
a deal with apple.

Spoiler Alert: Skip this post unless you want a useful but dreary, detailed
insight into how VZ screws up its phone bills. After 3 screwed-up bills,
Bill #4 seems to have gotten it fixed:
Late June - I switched my VZ POTS to "Freedom Plan" with Unlimited Long
Distance. Waited 3 days beyond effective date before making any LD calls
(had been using my cell for that).
Bill #1 - Wrongly charged for Caller ID (included in plan) plus all my LD
calls. VZ rep rebated wrong charges, I was told that the problem was fixed.
A few days later I received the same "Welcome to Verizon Freedom" e-mails
that I got when I signed on. That should have tipped me off that something
was amiss.
Bill #2 - CID charges gone but was billed for LD calls made between first
day of this billing cycle and the date of my call to fix Bill #1.
Apparently my "initial date of service" for ULD had been reset to the day I
called to correct Bill #1, so the computer thought I didn't have ULD until
that date and charged me for LD calls made prior to the "new" service date
(which was "new" only in the computer's records, not in reality). Rep
rebated charges, was told that problem was fixed.
Bill #3 - Same as #2. Explained the situation to VZ rep, said I didn't want
to have to be doing this every month, asked to be bumped up to someone who
had the authority to fix this once and for all. Got a very nice veteran rep
who rebated the LD charges, diagnosed the problem, gave me a technical
explanation of why the issue had persisted into Bill #3, and said it would
not recur in Bill #4. I don't know if it was that simple or if she spotted
something that the others had missed and quietly fixed it, but...
Bill #4 - Problem apparently has been fixed, no LD charges.
I'm reserving judgment until Bill #5; but the problem (in addition to the
initial computer/billing screw-up) apparently was that the very first rep
had "fixed" my account in a way that also reset my service date to the date
of that call. Hence the second round of "Welcome to Verizon Freedom"
e-mails. I think that's also what happened after the call for Bill #2.
Anyway, the take-away for this story is that (surprise!) VZ's billing system
and its reps make stupid mistakes, there is a right and a wrong way for a
rep to correct a billing problem, and sometimes you have to ask to be bumped
up to someone who knows the difference.
Why you so scared? Afraid you might like it? And then your life will be
sucked into the joy of watching videos online without BUFFERING.

I always thought that they offered you those deals at a really sweet price
to begin with and then the price jumped after the introductory period
anyway. I don't have Comcast Triple Play. I think I have digital preferred
for the TV. The business class is separate anyway and under a different
name. Same household, different account. I have to have the higher speed
for my work.

I think the word she was looking for was cheap.
mmm, it is. just cost a couple packs of butts a month, and there you go!
If that is available to you, I really fail to see what you have to lose. It
is effectively dialup--you can turn the modem off when you aren't using it
if you don't want it to be active.
And it is a whole lot faster and simpler in real ways than dialup.
You said you didn't want to hear from the gallery, and I'm trying not to
just spout a party line, but I do wonder if you've really considered this.
(And I also wonder if you missed the point of one of the early responses in
this thread: One of the oddities of some Verizon billing is that in some
months, you get two months worth of billings from, say, the DSL subsidiary.
I know you posted the description, but are you really sure this isn't just a
routine billing issue?)

<ATT part snipped for now>
My AMEX was charged $164.07, so Mrs Karim didn't know what she was
saying.
Needless to say that VZ will hear about this.
LOL no!
Ok I checked my CC billing and vol didn't charge me for Oct so going by the
pay ahead plan they hit us with last year or this I can't remember, 49 bucks
is about double. I will keep an eye on this for a few months.
LOL I don't watch vids online, no facebook crap or utube whatevers. The TV
is for watching movies ;-) and I buy DVD's and music CD's.....so I really
don't have a need for highspeed access......I would rather spend money on
yarn<G>
You catch the new "V" series....looks good so far......didn't see anybody
sucking down a mouse yet.
Money is not the problem unless it eats into my yarn habit..........I just
have no need at this time for high speed.
nope not giving up my cigs either.
Yes Bill looks like a catch-up from a skipped month......the billing hits
the card on the 12 of the month and the last charge was Sep 12.
I don't blame you and she sounds like the one that transferred me to the
microsoft help desk....they all must work outa the same office.
