Pity the British Naturist Society, which in these prudish times is
suffering from a bit of an image problem, particularly among the
younger generation. Fortunately, C4 has sourced some fledgling nudists
for this documentary, including 18-year-old Molly, who has already
been on a few naked bike rides and is now keen to get her friends
involved in the naturist movement. Most of them are happy to partake
in a bit of youthful exhibitionism, but are turned off by full
militant naturism. Part of the problem, we soon realise, is that

Yes, I noticed that comment and took a bit of exception to it. Although I
have yet to see this doco, I can speak from personal experience that there
are some people who are socially dysfunctional and/or mentally ill who get
involved with naturism.

I wonder why that is? Maybe they have trouble with being able to relate to
people in 'normal' circumstances. Maybe they have a yearning for
friendships that they've been denied or deprived of in the textile world,
and they somehow see nudists as being more easier to get on with and
befriend.

This is not entirely so. Have a listen to the podcast episode "How NOT To
Be Creepy" on the Naturist Living Show about why some people are well liked
at naturist places, and others make other people feel uneasy in their
presence. The podcaster Stephane Deschenes defines it for guys, but he
doesn't give any instances where some females have been singled out for
exhibiting creepy behaviour (and yes, they are out there in the nudist
world - they are just not so obvious).

Being in the TV business I should remind you all that even a
documentary like this is made with an agenda and a story to tell.
The footage they shoot and the way they edit it is adjusted to suit
that story and their agenda.
So if the programme portrays old naturists as "creepy" thats quite
likely part of the message they wanted to get across.
Even a seemingly natural and casual conversation between 2or more of
the subjects could easily have been pre loaded by an initial
discussion by the Director. It's very simple to influence the
subjects.

So as always with TV take it all with more than a pinch of salt.
That said I thought it was quite nicely done and resisted a lot of the
normal sniggering and innuendo that the media have to use to deal with
naked people.

well the truth is that the directors agenda was all tried back in the
late sixties by Elysium located up the topanga canyon in ca....but
most of you guys missed it and all the organized nudist rejected it
and rebelled against those physic and silly games....all these uk
things being portrayed sells products and is nothing more than a
repeat of what has already happened in the usa many years ago.....z

I can honestly say that i`ve never met any creepy naturists, but i
have come across some creepy nudists ( the type we call meerkats for
example. ) I watched the programme last night, & at first i thought
the guy getting his bum waxed was a little weird, but then i thought,
why not? It probably looks a lot more pleasing than a hairy bum. No
bum waxing for me though. The initial pain & then the discomfort of
the stubbly hair as it grows back. I must admit "hairless genitalia"
looks more pleasing on a female than it does on a male.
