WHAT ENDS AT THE END??
About the Law
To Know:
�But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after
those days, says the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write
it upon their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.�
(Jer. 31:33)
On July 4, 1776 deliberating the Declaration of Independence continued to
command the attention of the Continental Congress. The outcome of this day
in Philadelphia would be the world�s newest nation, the United States of
America. The vote on July 2nd insured the outcome of the vote on the 4th.
Human history itself turned a corner when president of the congress John
Hancock, and Charles Thompson, the secretary of the congress, affixed their
signatures to the Declaration of Independence. Not until August when a
document was properly prepared did the remaining delegates sign. The only
way king of England could now recover his colonies would be to win the war
begun the year before at the Concord Bridge.
The United States of America was the future. Those men in Philadelphia who
declared themselves free from King George III bound themselves by conscience
to the rule of law to be embodied in a constitution. A constitution cannot
rule a people except the people are trained to love, respect, and obey the
law. Love of the law is a basic biblical principle.
God rules his kingdom by planting a love of his law in the hearts of his
people. Love for the will of Christ is its own testimony to the effectual
call of God in a person�s life.
