The reclusive leader of Taliban militants, Mullah Omar, has
rejected a call from Afghan President Hamid Karzai to enter
peace negotiations.

"The people of Afghanistan will not agree to negotiation
which prolongs and legitimizes the invader's military
presence in our beloved country. Afghanistan is our home," a
Taliban statement quoted Omar as saying.

Omar, the founder of the Taliban, was Afghanistan's de facto
head of state from 1996 to 2001. He was unseated in the 2001
US-led invasion of Afghanistan. However, eight years on, US
forces still have not managed to apprehend Omar, or al-Qaeda
leader Osama bin Laden.

In his inauguration speech last week, Karzai called on the
militants to rejoin the political process in Afghanistan.

Karzai took his oath of office three months after an
election - marred by allegations of widespread fraud -
failed to produce a winner with a majority of the ballot.

A run-off election was never held, since Abdullah Abdullah,
Karzai's main rival, decided to withdraw his bid for the
presidency.

The United States and Britain have also opened the door for
talks with the so-called "moderate Taliban."

Although nearly 110,000 foreign troops are currently
fighting Taliban militants in Afghanistan, they have not
been able to provide stability to the war-torn country.

A government, of Israel, by Israel, and, for: Israel.
But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light:
for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. The light shineth in darkness;
and the darkness comprehended it not. The light of the body is the eye:
if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness.
If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead,
and Christ shall give thee light. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
