We think we can trust our day care providers to care for our children
with the love and attention we would - but there have been more and
more cases of daycare abuse and neglect reported - and so many that
aren't reported... http://daycareabuse.com/03-18-2008/center-disabled-children-closes-following-investigation
How do the members of this group go about choosing a reliable day
care?

I do know that there are some daycare centers / businesses that now offer
webcam viewing so that the parents can see what is going on inside the
daycare.

Other people just rely on "word of mouth" from friends and / or relatives.

I have a former crackpot neighbor from where I used to live in LA who
has started a Child Care business. She is a former bail bond agent.
She used to hide in her bedroom and spy on her neighbors and pick no
bones about making comments about what she saw them doing. She would
also comment on conversations of theirs she had eavesdropped on.

She even went so far as to write my law firm employer informing them
that she had filed a state bar complaint against them because I had
supposedly sent her some harassing correspondence from work that she
had traced there through Pitney-Bowes. Pitney-Bowes treats all meter
information as confidential and does not give it out. She also on
another occasion blocked one of the entryways into the parking lot
with her car and made another neighbor drive around the block to the
other entrance when he tried to get in through that entryway.

I am just amazed that someone that crazy was granted a license to run
a child care center.
