Unless you are a Verizon/PrimeCo customer, I am guessing that most Verizon
customers using a Nokia 6185 do not have a working PRL simply because Bell
Atlantic Mobile and AirTouch never sold nor supported this phone.

Even if you are a Verizon/PrimeCo customer, from what I understand, the
last PRL update for the 6185 was Spring 2000 (4040), as that was the most
recent PRL available when my 6185 was updated at a Verizon/PrimeCo store
last August.

Anyway, here is what I am thinking: Now that Verizon is selling the
tri-mode 5185i, they should have a recent tri-mode PRL available for this
phone, right? I think that it might even be version 10112.

If this is the case, then I am wondering if it would be possible to put the
Verizon 5185i PRL into a 6185. Anyone have any thoughts on this idea, or
would like to guinea-pig this idea on a spare 6185?

as usual, my Nokia 6185 page is at: http://www.bridog.net/6185.txt and the
programming page at: http://www.bridog.net/bam.html

Ask Nokia about the 6185 via their website. I've found the Nokia customer
care specialists to be pretty responsive and have generally gotten answers
from them within 1-2 days.

Brian,
PRL for the 5185i is 50000 Don't know if it would work for the 6185 or
even if V would do it.

My PRL is 50003, and I'm in KC with a 5185i.

How do we get the verison updated? I know that with voicestream you can
bring the phone and get it updated... I believe its being flashed or
something.

I have a 6185 active on Verizon and I flashed PRL 50000 into it no problem.
Working like a champ.

The PRL differs by area you're located in. There is a different trimode and
dualmode PRL for the former AirTouch, GTE, Bell Atlantic, and PrimeCo
markets. My understanding is that Verizon is going to concentrate all PRLs
into two or three different files some time early next year.

I'm in the Indianapolis market and the phones have only been available for
about a week. I believe in your market they have been available longer, but
I'll bet that means they've already had roaming problems for such a fast
update. I don't think the 5185i has been available for more than two months.
