Still no T-Mobile Coverage in Yosemite, Page Plus Works but Roams

We were in Yosemite this past weekend. Where we were staying, at
Yosemite West

there was no GSM coverage at all. CDMA coverage was on Golden State
Cellular. Double dialing on Page Plus (Verizon MVNO), presumably Sprint
and Ting could roam for free and presumably Virgin had no coverage at
all. No data roaming was available for Page Plus, only extra-cost voice
calling and included texting.
In Yosemite Valley there is AT&T GSM coverage (there's a cell there) but
T-Mobile can't roam on it--you'll get a full strength signal, but
emergency only calls. Up on the trails above the valley there was CDMA
coverage but no GSM coverage. We had left our 15 year old home for the
weekend since he had a lot of schoolwork (or so he said) and it was good
to be able to keep in touch with him (texting is no extra cost when
roaming off of Verizon on Page Plus).
I keep hoping that 95389 will get T-Mobile roaming coverage from AT&T
but so far the map doesn't show it and it doesn't work in practice.

T-Mobile SIM (unlocked on the GSM side). My phone was off most of the
time, as was my daughter's. My wife really likes using the camera phone
on her Motorola Droid 2 Global (no GSM SIM card is in it) so her phone
was on all the time, and she's the one that likes to text, I probably
send 20 texts per month, never coming close to the 250 texts included in
my $12/month plan.

falls." He really wanted an Incredible 2 for the larger screen, but he's
only getting the Incredible 1 for now. No need for an expensive phone to
take to school.
BTW, beautiful time to go to Yosemite, the waterfalls are very full now,
and it's not going to last because it was such a terrible snow year. It
was very uncrowded too. The Mist trail is officially not open but a lot
of people were taking it anyway. We used the John Muir Trail.

Dakota. Near record snowfalls and cold temps that are hindering a gradual
melt, they're looking at the real possibility of record flooding this year
once melting starts in earnest, which is getting old since they've flooded
way too often lately.

so I suppose the answer is yes, but only for microscopically small values of
ubiquitous. In other words, don't get your hopes up. Once you leave the
inner core of San Francisco, the situation is the opposite of ubiquitous.

Apparently, you're coming from Canada, so yes, you have to show your papers.
That would be the case for travel in either direction, of course.

Mo service to test with, but not contract/postpaid service, so you're
unable to test the latter.
I'm currently on the island of Kauai, and my phones are roaming on AT&T
all over the place. It flips back and forth between T-Mo and AT&T in
different parts if the hotel. T-Mo roaming on AT&T has seemed to
increase quite a bit since the failed merger.

others I know that had T-Mobile postpaid had no coverage, but that was
two years ago. So it is possible that T-Mobile postpaid now has coverage
but they have not updated their maps.

All of the roaming was on AT&T. AT&T's maps show a bit of roaming as well,

stayed at the Marriott Waiohai in Poipu. It's a timeshare ;) (but not
mine- we sublet it from a friend unable to use it this year.)
