Well state troopers, who I trust more than a shill for Alcatel,
Motorola, Nokia, etc.,
would differ:

"Published: Wednesday, June 3, 1992
Gov. Lowell P. Weicker Jr. signed legislation today making Connecticut
the first state in the nation to ban the use of hand-held radar guns,
which police unions believe can cause cancer after long-term use.
Radar guns, a familiar fixture since the 1950's on rural back roads
and super highway speed traps, will still be allowed if mounted
outside police cars, and Mr. Weicker said other speed-detecting
technologies, using lasers, would also be substituted to enforce speed
limits.
The ban, which takes effect on July 1, passed the House and Senate
unanimously, under heavy lobbying pressure by police unions, which led
what became something of a crusade against the guns after several
officers with years of traffic enforcement were diagnosed with cancer.
The state police stopped using the devices last year, and some
municipal police departments in Connecticut and Florida have also
halted their use. The Seattle Mariners baseball team no longer uses
radar to track the speed of pitchers' fast balls."

connecticut police used to keep the radar gun in their lap while
powered on, lifting it to the window to zap cars. *that* is why they
fried their balls.
normal use of handheld radar is fairly safe, assuming you point it at
traffic and not yourself.
> Well state troopers, who I trust more than a shill for Alcatel,
Really.
Seriously.
Larry is a shill for Alcatel?
Or one of the phone manufacturers?
If you honestly think that, you're more of an idiot than I originally
thought.
Guys, all I have to say is: a while ago, when JGrove was posting crap
about Alcatel and Motorola --- stuff that was not off-topic but was
posted over and over and over and OVER AND OVER again -- I said
something to him along the lines of "okay, shut up already" and got a
nasty, nasty response. I can go find it on Google Groups if you like.
JG makes Larry look normal. I mean, seriously. Those of us who have read
Larry's posts know damned well that he is the exact OPPOSITE of a
telecomm industry shill.
Oh, and Grover, this time your crap wasn't even on-topic. It was simply
annoying, and you're a nutjob (you just proved it... thanks)

If you actually read the newsgroups you post to (other than
misc.transport.road, I've seen you actually engage in conversations
there), you'd have read Larry's posts before, and you'd understand that
he isn't a shill.
He doesn't hide. He's used the same alias ever since the first post I
saw from him, years ago.

So, go hit Google Groups and educate yourself about his posting history.
So sticking a cell antenna next to your ear has no effect.. I think I
made my point.
And this is Good News, say 30 million big yappers don't make it to age
65 to collect Social Security, thats $3 TRILLION saved.
I started using cell phones in 1993. 16 years ago, and these were the
old analog phones, not the digital phones that they started selling
around 1995-96. No cancer, no tumors. Thanks for your concern.

I know you're a troll, but do you also have to be an asshole?
Report back in 2023.

I see your Victorville made COPS TV this year, what a slice of heaven.

where's the proof it was solely due to cellphones and not something
else? cancer and tumors have been around since long before cellphones
existed.

It's hard to FIND the antenna, now! They got rid of them to make sure you
didn't get out too far!

Another stupid modern religion caused by the media.....

It's already been said, but I'll say it again because it bears
repeating: Prove that their deaths were the result of cell phone use.

Yeah, must suck to live here, eh?
So, once again, when you can't actually argue the points I'm making, you
attack me instead.
*pat on the head*
Go run along and play now, and leave the adults alone.

I'm a student of the SoCal culture, what can I say. Actually SBSO
impresses me, but at least Rancho Cucamonga pays for 2 man patrol
cars. Did local news cover the arrival of the COPS camera crews ??

So, you STILL don't have anything intelligent to say about the subject
that was being discussed.
And you have big ol' brass cojones talking about SoCal culture. In
Chicago, aren't all of the criminals working at City Hall?
(See? I can play that game too. When you feel like actually responding
to what I said about your posting habits, please do so.)
Its still within millimeters of people's skull. The whole radar gun
saga is just the opening act. They had the right ideal at first with
car phone antennas outside on car roofs.
Even people with the Mr. Spock bluetooth earphones with phones hanging
on their belts will get fried kidneys, with a nice cianti.
