Droid experiencing external speaker problems
from Engadget by Paul Miller

It's no reason to panic just yet, but apparently a good amount of
people are having trouble with the external speaker on their Motorola
Droid cutting out for no reason. It seems to be software-related, and
sometimes a reboot fixes it temporarily, but it's a scary problem for
people relying on the handset as an alarm clock (or, you know, to
receive calls), since you never know when it will strike next. For its
part it seems that Motorola is replacing handsets that have the issue,
though that's no guarantee of escape from the clutches of silence.
Let's hope Motorola updates us with a software patch or some other
serious solution soon -- people need to hear that robotic "Droooiiid"
alert sound -- and meanwhile let us know if you've been seeing a
similar issue.

This isn't the only area causing frustrated users pain. The Droid App
store sucks rocks. Not only are the apps of poor quality compared to
the front runner iPhone, the Droid apps are excruciatingly hard to
find compared to using the iTunes App store. It is a good thing there
is only one tenth for the Droid of the apps an iPhone has for that one
reason alone. More apps would be overwhelming pain for the Droid user.

Will Verizon update their Droid doesn't ads to include...

Droid doesn't have a desktop version of the App store like Apple's
iPhone?
Droid doesn't have a reliable speaker to take phone calls with?

Do you know any frustrated iPhone users who thought they were cool by
switching to Verizon's Droid who are now dragging back to home to
Apple? I read of one account in an online newspaper tech column today.

Droid users will find that the fantastic Motorola S9 or S9HD bluetooth
headsets will pair on both handsfree and A2DP bluetooth stereo with the
Droid, like any other premium Motorola phone with an MP3 player to give you
simply amazing stereo sound for about a street price of $70-80 for the
S9HD.

Be very wary of online sales gimmicks promising S9 headsets for $30 from
online sellphone stores. I had a problem with a busted S9 delivered from
one of these shysters but the nice people at Chase VISA did a chargeback to
the merchant who became MUCH more cooperative with an RMA after he found he
wasn't going to be paid....(c;]

I've never found a better in-the-ear stereo headset than the Motorola S9HD.
It makes my MotoROKR Z6m phone sound like a huge DJ system...and never
makes a mechanical noise when you move your head.

No such problem here and when it does work the Moto speaker kicks
the iPhones ass up the stairs, around the corner and back down.

Bull shit, on what planet? The number of apps WILL catch up to
Apple, fast at the rate Apple turns down some fairly good apps and the
apps that I have used so far in the whopping 3 days I've had this phone
are of every bit equal or better quality. I got a little "Bejewled" like
game, it fully kills the same game I had for the iPhone, in fact the one
I had on the L7 and i730 and Razr did as well.

Maybe for a moron. The search function on the Google app store eats
iTunes, I got all manner of crap that was not eve remotely associated
with my search term. That hasn't happened yet with Google.

It doesn't need one, why would it? I never used the iTunes store, i
only used the app store from my phone. However, you're wrong yet again
because you can access the Google app store and download stuff. The main
difference? You drag and drop to the Droid rather than having to depend
on that cluge known as iTunes.

I know one who is ecstatic and two others who wish they could weasel
out of AT&Ts contract.

Well, it was important enough for several folks to
comment on. Fortunately, they were not burdened
by Microsoft shitware which fails to properly
implement a decade-old standard. - Sam
