These comments are old. I wish more people were in these groups. Anyway,
when indoors, cats ruin the house if they have their front claws. If we
were going to live together, the declawing had to take place. They don't
seem to mind not having claws. They adjust and still manage to do
everything cat's do. If they were outdoors, they would just adjust and find
another way to climb a tree quick to avoid the dog. They are loved by their
owner and won't end up taken to the pound because they are such a nuisance
and become euthanized later because no one adopted them. Kittens are more
likely to be adopted, not older cats. So the people who are against
declawing should leave it be unless they want to see a lot of cats
euthanized because no one wants them because they can't adopted everyone of
them out. Then they will have something to fuss about!

If you don't want your precious house ruined then dont have a cat.
You are not a cat lover. If you were then you would allow the cat to live as
it was intended WITH CLAWS.

Have you asked them if they don't mind having their claws removed?

CATS CANNOT CLIMB WITHOUT CLAWS (WELL KNOWN FACT)
Have you ever seen a cat being chased by a dog? I have.
And not being able to escape.
The panic in that little animals face as she tried to escape was pitiful.
I got her away from the dog.

You are one of the people who only want a cat as a fashion accessory, not as
a member of your home.

Love and best wishes to all animal lovers Peter (OP not included)

I don't see having all four paws declawed, just the front two, and that is
as long as the cat is kept indoors. They will not make a gymnasium out of
your house, and a little kid is not so likely to get their eyes scratched.

Also, if the cat should get out, it can still climb a tree. They can climb
trees without their front paw claws.

Cats get that panic look on their face anytime they get into a situation
they want out of and don't see a way out.

Letting your cat run outside opens it up to getting hit on the road. Cats
don't last very long because of traffic. I think you do your cat a favor by
letting it be an indoor cat. It is a dangerous world out there for a cat
even if it has claws.
