<<Hi folks, I've just got back from Novacon, a nice medium-sized British
con and one of the focuses of the year. Very pleasant, but don't hang around
Peter Moorwood, Diane Duane and Sue Mason when they start talking about
badgers :-). Anyway, in traditional Nick Chopper style I just about have time
to comment on some of the conversations and clear up the confusion I seem to
have caused.
<<Yes, that "Testing, Testing" post was me, and many thanks to everyone
who mailed and posted to confirm that it got through. Thanks especially to
Randolph and the Green Tiger for figuring out the mail routes back to me. You
can mail to me at either mhs-relay.ac.uk or cs.ucl.ac.uk, but I can only mail
outside the UK through mhs-relay so it's probably better to use that one. I
should have included a .sig in that post, but I have to paste it in by hand,
as it were, and after so many attempts to mail to the server at Berkley I
forgot when I finally spelt it "Berkeley", i.e. properly. How to feel a
complete idiot in one easy lesson.
<<The "/O=SJ Research/" bit of my address seems to give most people's
mailers severe indigestion; they can't take the space, and just wave their
little command line parsers in the air and claim that the first bit is a
filename :-). Anyway, "/O=SJ/" works, and I'm told that "/O=SJResearch/"
without the space should also work. I haven't tried that one, though. Now all
I have to do is figure out mail routes back :-7
<<Enough me.
<<Diana: I did mail you with my change of Email address, honest, but HP
doesn't seem to want me to get through any more. Sorry.
<<Joelle: Hate? I tried it once and it didn't work. I'll grieve with you,
if you don't mind.
<<Taldin: Ahem, is there something you're not telling us, young man? :-)
Thanks very much for the home movies though, I must have joined in only a week
or two after the last of those posts, I think. Cor.
<<Toothpick: Everyone else has said it all already. I can't offer more
than a shoulder and an ear, but I hope that that and all the warm fuzzies
we've been spontaneously generating help some.
<<Wayne: Are you saying your feel might go disasterously wrong, or
something *will* go disasterously wrong? Which feels "right"? And is it? No, I
didn't think so either. (Now I've confused me too; sorry, I'm in a tearing
hurry right now.>>
Despite so saying, Windsinger abruptly freezes, and turns slowly to
Callahan. <<Mike,>> he says, in a puzzled tone, <<that is a sawn-off that you
have behind the bar, isn't it?>>
"Uh-huh"
<<Mmmm, I thought so. I could have sworn you just pulled a Winchester, but
that would've been disc-usting.>>
<<Oh God, I've got to run. See you later folks!>> Exit mage and bird in
rather more speed than ought to be possible, except in virtual space.
Fortunately someone opens the door before they get there...

Wayne turns to Windsinger to reply. "What I'm trying to say is that I grew
to 'familiar' (for lack of a better word) with both Karen and Marcy to
remember what to do with a stanger on a date. I dated Karen for almost
seven years (thru high school, two years of college and a year in the Navy).
I dated Marcy for 2.5 years. With Karen, we were both young (early teens)
and just did 'dating' by trial and error. With Marcy, we already had a
common interest (what that interest was is private).
"Donna is a total stranger. We met a comedy night for singles. I later
discovered that night that she wasn't interested in comedy, but came to all
the events put on my the group running the comedy night out of habit. We
share no interests that I know of. We just talked about various things.
When she found out I had dated before, she started asking questions that I
couldn't answer without some tricky wordplay (the orgasm question being the
hardest to answer without making it sound like a proposition). It was
because of this I asked for HELP.
"I hope I've made my questions clearer. For those of you still following my
attempts at getting a second date: still no luck. I'm about ready to give
up trying. I'll give it one last try this weekend, then I'll call it quits.
Hopefully, I won't have to."
