A figure little-seen lately strolls into the Place, doffing his damp
cloak and hanging it on a Handy Hook that just seems to always be in a
convenient spot for him. "Mike! I completely forgot to tell you guys
what happened!"

"For seven months?"

"Mike, if there were a Service Level Agreement on human memory, mine
would have netted me enough cash to live off by the time I was 20."

"So anyway..."

"Oh yeah! Well, so back at the end of May I got married --"

"And you forgot to tell everyone *that* for seven months?"

"Hey, that first year is a killer, you know? Never enough time... So
we went to Boston for our honeymoon, because we had friends there and
there are some neat tourist things to do. And we had visited said friends
back in April, and my lovely wife fell in love with Boston and wanted to
go back soon.

"One of the things our friends suggested we do was go to Bearskin Neck
for a day. It's about an hour's drive from where we were, and they told
us there were lots of nifty art shops and craftsmen there. And boy were
they ever right.

"We did a bit of browsing around, just looking in this or that shop as
the mood took us -- and we went into a photo studio that caught our eye.
And we found some of the most fantastic photography I've ever seen."

"That good eh?"

"Better. We spent close to $150 the first day, and came back the next
day just to pick up some more prints for ourselves and as gifts. It was
like an addiction -- a feeling I've never really had about art of any kind
before. All told I think we spent $300 or so.

"The proprietor's name is Mark Kanegis. He was there the first day and we
chatted with him about some of the shots and just how he became a
photographer in general. He used to work at an IT firm in that area and
photography was just a hobby, but after a few years he started feeling
boxed in and decided to make the leap. He's got a website up, and his shop
is open whenever he or his mother (who's from, if I recall, Sweden) are
there. He sells prints in all different sizes and media. And if I may be
so bold, his website's worth checking out just to get an idea of what he
has to offer."

With that the bespectacled speaker steps over to the bulletin board and
tacks up a note that reads:

Mark Kanegis Photo Gallery
http://www.kanegisgallery.com/

"He talks like the real thing -- stories about getting that one perfect
shot because he carries his cameras wherever he goes, or waiting for the
light and the waves to be *just* right for a seascape picture. If you
have a blank space on your wall begging to be filled, I suggest you check
him out."

With that, Joe orders a double Laphroaig 15 and steps to the Line.

"Here's a toast -- to real artists!"

With a slow gulp, a rapid flight, and a resounding **CRASH**, the toast is
completed and Joe takes a seat at the Bar.

"So, Mike... what else has been going on around here?" -- Joe
