Several weeks ago, while ranting about health
care, I mentioned that I had to have some dental
surgery, which I was too reluctant to book.

Well, I did end up booking an appointment. It was
this morning.

My lower jaw is still frozen, and there's general
soreness and aching in my face, but it went
pretty smoothly.

The hardest part now is I've got to stay dry for a
week and a half because of the medications.

But that is a whole lot easier than having it
hanging over my head like some sort of Tooth-
Puller of Damocles. So join me in raising a
glass of luke-warm water, some of which will
probably end up spilling down my face.

To finally "biting" the bullet.

Thanks to all for the kind words.

One of the minor inconveniences left over
from the procedure is waking up in the middle
of the night for antibiotics - and I already have
a bit of an insomnia issue. That plus the fact
that I slept through most of the day means I
will be awake for a while yet.

I know I need more rest during the healing
phase, and messing your sleep cycles is
never a good thing, but the medications are
only for a few days.

So even in the wee hours of the morning, I
still have no regrets.

My consult at Interface is Dec 1st. They'll be removing my impacted
tooth and the one that the top is facing, and clear out the
infection/cavity below the 2nd one. Lovely. But while I have dental
coverage is the time to get it done.

Glad you've got it over with.

Wow, you do have my sympathies.

Long ago, I was an orderly in a hospital, and one of the tasks I had
was to escort people in pajamas
down to an operating area, where they usually were getting wisdom
teeth extracted. Later, I would go
back with a gurney, and wheel them (lying down, unconscious, and with
the mouth area swollen and bruised)
back to their rooms, where they would have similar bouts with pain and
sleeping pills.

I can tell you that it all passes, as you know, so continue just
"gutting it out". If it helps, you can promise yourself ice cream
afterwards, like we used to tell the little tykes.

I once saw a comic that changed the title of the story, cause i guess
no one knows what building a fire is anymore.

"To Start a Fire" by Jack London. paraphrased by a friend:

MAN: Oops. Ooops. Oops. Oops. Oops/ Oops. Oops. Here, boy!

DOG: FOAD, N00B.
