Oh, my! How excitingly original.

In article <35A734...@venus.dytc.ac.kr>, Dorian Taks revealed
himself as a bit challenged in the brains department, and perhaps more
sexually adventurous than is entirely wise...

Me?! *chortle*!

** The 'toon feline chuckles indulgently. Awwww... infants are sooo
amusing when they get feisty! [1] He buys Dorian a fresh bottle of
Gerber's formula and offers to pay for a diaper change whenever he
needs it (smells like that's about now). He'll skip the usual
pawshake, as Taks's hand seems to have something slimy all over it,
and apparently gets washed only for national holidays. On alternate
years.

The cat shifts into the patient, sweetsy, condescending first-grade-
teacher voice he only uses when communicating with beings
considerably farther down the evolutionary scale than he is. **

My dear little Dorrie, thank you _so_ much for what I'm sure you
intended as a compliment on my obvious furry good looks. Um... I know
it's kinda hard to tell, darlin', but I'm a _tom_cat. A straight one.
And in a few years, when you're old enough, you'll learn that it just
doesn't work that way.

Just curious... aren't there any sheep farms in Korea? *If* you don't
mind my asking!

While all of you are replying to Dorian, might I put forth another
comment?

There's a good chance that Dorian didn't send that message. There are
these people, see, who get into other people's accounts and sent nasty
messages out and laugh as the nasty replies come in--much to the
amazement of the account holder.

They call them...oh what was that term?...Huskers? Crackers? Oh, you
know, just like that one movie....the one with the kids.....You know.

Well, now let us examine this for a moment.

If, say the proposition came from Liam Neeson or Harrison Ford (albeit
couched in much more polite terms), I would have to think hard and think
twice before turning down such an offer.

However, I do get enough good value for my money in that regard from
Dear Hoosband that it would *take* a Liam Neeson or a Harrison Ford to
make me consider the proposition in the first place.

And even at that, Mssrs. Neeson and Ford had best damned take me out for
a nice dinner beforehand.

BetN, contemplating a double team of Liam and Harrison....is YUMMIES!

I'm reminded of the comedian commenting on the Redford film. He asked
his wife, "honey, would you sleep with Robert Redford for a million
dollars?" "She left the room, looking thoughtful. A while later she
comes back, tears in her eyes. 'the most I can come up with is five

Name that late commedian for a BOYC.

Which reminds me of a conversation I had with some friends once. We were
talking about male fantasies, and how there seem to be some standard
ones eg two women making love that, all men seem to share. They forget
that if two women are making love and enjoying themselves the male
watching is probably not invited to the party. But I digress. The
conversation then turned to female fantasies. Specifically the men on
"the list". These are the men that you would say yes to anytime,
anyplace, anywhere, and your SO would have to just understand that you
couldn't help yourself.
Messrs. Neeson and Ford are definitely on mine. There was, however, only
one guy that we all agreed on - Tom Selleck.

j.w. (Of course, at that time I hadn't met the men _here_!)

"Speaking as someone who lost an account after someone did something

Eric is rather visibly annoyed by that sort of statement. "We have
patrons here from WebTV, AOL (Dusty himself has, or had, an AOL account),
Compuserve, and just about every other ISP that explicitly caters to the
masses (except Delphi; I can't recall anyone here from Delphi). Do you
realize you're insulting them all with that remark?"

"There are lusers on every ISP known to man-- WebTV, AOL, AT&T Worldnet
(my mom's on that one)-- but that doesn't justify insulting everyone who
uses them. Some people just want to get on the 'net, without having to
learn about PPP, TCP/IP stacks, POP/IMAP, and all that jazz. Should we
make it harder for these people, just because they don't want to learn
more about their computers, and would rather get on to the sharing of
pain and joy?"

Droewyn thinks a moment. "I can't actually think of *anyone* I could just
say yes to, just like that. Adrian Paul, Peter Wingfield, Elisabeth Grayson
(to give you a clue as to what *I* watch on tv), yes they're living works of

scene does absolutely nothing for me."

I can think of a few. But I was engaged to one of them (I'd say yes in
a heartbeat, to her), and the others are very close friends. :) As for
famous people? There are certainly a few that I wouldn't mind getting
to know enough to make the decision. Good looks are one thing, but I
like personality and skill (or at least a willingness to try) in a
sexual partner.

the first two. And as for Ms Gracen? Well....hey. (*big* grin) <sigh>

I don't think he is, actually. The September Phenomena was
simply the fact that there'd be a lot of people with new accounts, and
some were bound to be stupid; he's saying now that there's always a
lot of new accounts, and hence there are always going to be people who
are being stupid.

He's not, unless I'm misreading it, saying that people who use
WebTV or AOL, or others are stupid or trollish or whatever; just that
they're constantly signing a lot of new people.

Which is what I learned. Most men who *really* want tend to be the types who

"When I was growing up, the fantasy of two women in bed with you was
pretty much a standard one, and I didn't think about it too much for a
while," says Eric, from his perch near Fast Eddie's piano.

"The main thing that turned me off the idea was a movie called, if I'm
remembering aright, THE GREEN MAN, where a man spends the first third of
the movie trying to convince his wife to allow another woman in bed with
the two of them, the second third trying to convince the other woman--
and the final third being completely ignored by the two women."

Eric grins ruefully in his beer. "Made ME think, I'll tell ya."

An excellent point! Until you're face-to-face, it's at most an esthetic
attraction... though I'll admit that some guys are pretty damned
esthetic. Tom Selleck would never make *my* list, though -- face like a
brick, and acting skills to match.

Actually, I've heard that some immigrants from non-English-speaking
countries have been known to get this *horrified* look when they
encounter "baby oil" after encountering "corn oil" and the like...

English is very flexible, but that flexibility comes at the cost of
ambiguitity in some cases.

Um, when discussing people-I'm-unlikely-to-ever-meet, I don't usually factor
in whether I think they'd find me attractive. (In best Homer Simpson voice:
"Urrrrr... Anne Heche...")

After all, where would that leave the list of Dead Hotties? I'm sure lots of

Mel Gibson (and just about _any_ man in a kilt. Short, fat, bald,

heh heh.

Reminds me of a friend of mine. She was my 'therapist' all through
college, and for quite a bit afterward--always knew what was going on
and wasn't afraid to tell me the truth (even when it hurt) or lie to me
with a straight face (because it had to be done).

We never managed to get together romantically--we were never unattached
at the same time (and despite the fact my fiance gave us permission, we
never took her up on that. :) When she finally got married, I walked up
to her (at the wedding reception) and said.

"Well, I tried to talk you out of it, but you went ahead and did it
anyway....you settled for second best. :) But! I am here-by claiming
first place on the 7-year-itch list."

This became our joke (or was it?....) we started to plan out this whole
escape for several years down the road. Of couse the whole thing hinged
on her husband saying it was okay--which he never would, so we were
perfectly safe in playing with the joke......

Until the day I was visiting and the husband, very stone faced and fully
serious, told me I had his permission. EEK! Suddenly the possibility
became real, and it was rather scarey. He just had to go and ruin a
good thing. :/

(just for the record--we never did. Which is probably for the best. :)

And some of us either don't want or don't have upward of $2000 to
spend on what is, for us, a _toy_ -- regardless of how much we enjoy it
and love the people we find with it.
And don't want to spend the time "learning" computers until we find
out if we're going to _enjoy_ it.
Said enjoyment and people, for me, never would've been found at all
without things like my toy.
Since my "passion" is people and the 'Net itself, I don't plan to
get a "real" computer. I've had enough exposure to them (a buddy or
three who're _real_ Geeks) to know that I have _no_ interest in the tech
end, or anything that a computer can do that this (WebTV) can't do.
Except for certain games, of course... <sigh> I'd kill for a good

I resent the pervasive idea that anyone who has WebTV is either a

it. There's good and bad everywhere -- can you tell me that everyone

But he feels he may have missed something down the years. Ms Trumpinski was
one of the first Patrons to welcome the foreign person to the bar (what were
you thinking?) yet in the 3 or more years I have dirtied the doorstep, I was
never aware of a hyphen Roberts in her life.

Did I miss something?

Is this some new software that you are working from?

Please enlighten.

kitten is always delighted when people she welcome to callahans turn out
to be as cool as don. "well, you see, i switched newsreaders and so i was
able to adjust my identity in virtual space. in RL(tm) i added the
-roberts last thanksgiving weekend when starknight (aka sean roberts), tc
(trumpinski) and i got married (handfasted/had a committment

'trumpinski'. however, everywhere else i am barbara 'kitten'

it doesn't fit into little bitty signature spaces on forms)."

Mandy's eyes glaze over. And stay open for several minutes, as
she's apparently forgotten how to blink. A helpful Patron pokes her
sharply, getting her back to some semblance of reality.
Hastily gulping her 'Dew to wet a suddenly dry mouth, she clears
her throat and scribbles a note:

Peter Wingfield
Nick Lea
Adrian Paul
Guy from Humanities class (too pretty by half, he is)

Preach it, Sister! I get very annoyed at the people who automatically discount
my words because they come with a @aol.com attached. Ok, I get semi-annoyed at
the people who discount my words because they come with the word Cleavage
attached as well, but then again, there we go with the whole proclaiming thing
again. If I weren't able to handle a little teasing/ innuendo/blatent
horndoggitude, I wouldn't have chosen the handle I did. However, back to the
AOL thing - I stay with AOL because of two reasons. My mother happens to have
AOL, and it's nice to be able to talk with her/help her out with any problems
she might have/introduce her to new things (in fact I showed her alt.callahans
the other week). And frankly, AOL has the best newsfeed I've seen in town. I
can count on one hand the number of times the feed has hiccoughed in the past
year, and I get a good 95% of the messages posted to alt.callahans - the
percentage is probably higher, but I hate to go in with a blanket 100%. I've
not seen any service beat that yet. I've thought about going with another
service, just because of the attitude, but for what I use it for (posting,
playing on a Mud, communicating with friends) it does exactly what it's
supposed to. Why switch just because a few people can't take me as I am,
rather than as my ISP is rumored to be?

Adrian Paul plays Duncan McCleod on _Highlander: the Series_ (USA

Peter Wingfield plays Methos/Adam Peirson on the same show (recurring
character)
Nick Lea plays Agent Krychek (sp?) on the _X-Files._
