Hi,
Has anyone tried the popular faux painting techniques on an orange peel
textured walls? Will these techniques work or will the paint all just go
into the texture?
How would one go about removing or covering up the orange peel??
Thanks.

I have done many different finishes. I am temporally disabled, so with
much time on my hands I read at least 50 books on the subject. I'm not
sure what an orange peel finish is, but every book I read stated the
first step is to get the walls as smooth as possible. If you can sand
and skim coat them it would be best for most finishes. Your local
library most likley has many books on faux finishing. They are always
fun to read and you will get many ideas.
Hope it helps a little

Some work, some don't. The simpler techniques, like sponging on/off and
ragging on/off have worked fine for us. Colorwashing ("under the brush")
doesn't work very well, since the texture is emphasized, rather than the
brushwork. More refined techniques, like dragging, hard-edged strie' and
most marbeling, don't seem to work at all.

Unless you have your heart set on those that require a smooth wall, I'd stay
with the texure. It can be convered over (skim-coated), but that is a lot
of work.
