Door Switches/ where buy ?

I have a hard wired, simple, Radio Shack alarm system. It uses small spring-button switches that go into the frame of a door jamb. You drill a hole about 3/4 of an inch or so, and install the switch in the hole. Radio Shack no longer makes alarm systems, and thus they don't sell the switches. Can anyone recommend a place to buy them please ?... more »

Hardie Board over foam board

I have 1 1/2" foam insulation installed on my house. We would like to install Hardie Board over that, but the Hardie website states that it can only be installed over 1" foam insualtion. Can I still get away with it if I use longer nails or screws? Anything else I should know about? Thanks ------------------------------ -------... more »

Shower faucett valve question ??

Upstairs shower, single handle faucett. Pull straight out for water, turn left for hot, right for cold. Water not leaking, but can hear a hiss all the time. Sounds like some faucetts do when you turn them on just slightly. Actually, sounds almost like water is running (very slightly), but none running, and no leak.... more »
