with the usual marks around the edges and corners but no
major "hits" and the corners are still in very good shape
and only slightly rounded.
- Binding & spine: Glue and string, both the spine and binding
are tight and in excellent shape.
- Inside front: is split between the cover and the 1st page
showing the binding but that is all, there is no looseness.
In the top right-hand corner of the first page (blank) is a
previous id marking 22DM52. Watermarks clearly visible when
this page is held up to a light.
- Inside back: excellent
- On the facing page (blank) of the title page there is a note
(2.25" x 4" piece of paper) with a comment from a previous
owner stating that this book was printed 44 years before he
was born (in 1821) and had been in his possession for over
50 years. This means the note was written in 1872-3 time
frame.
- Title page: Clean
- On the facing page (blank) of the publisher's page (and full
title) there is another note, same size, stating that a
previous owner bequeths Vol I, which he owned, loaned and
never saw again to whomever has Vol II.
- Publisher's page: the date is in Roman numerals which someone
translated - 1777 - in pencil someone also wrote, in pencil,
in the middle at the bottom of the page;

someone has written, in pen this time, printed 1777.
