Frank Darabont (maker of The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile and The
Mist) has also announced plans to make a film out of one of the Richard
Bachman novels, The Long walk.

I read this on a film web site, which was posted a while ago and so must
have been mentioned on here before, but I think it worth repeating. MInd
you, I don't see how it can be done but what do I know. Obviously readers
of Mr King will agree that this is a great favourite and we will look
forward to it, even if we end up saying 'not as good as the story'.

Let us hope for goodness' sake that it is not mangled as was The Running
Man.

I agree, I can't imagine how it can be done (unless it focuses on
flashbacks much more than the novel does) but Darabont fared very well
in the three adaptations of King's work he shot, so there is some
hope.
I guess we will only have to wait and see by ourselves.

As SK favorites go, it has been second only to The Stand for me. I haven't
heard much about this, so don' t know if they're going ahead with it, or
not. To be honest, I read this with a certain amount of dread. It could go
so, so wrong if handled badly.
