Les Savage Jr. is a master storyteller and "The Curse Of Montezuma"
from Sagebrush is the large print edition of a three short-story
western anthology representing some of the best of his work.
'Commanche Legend' is a story centered on the horse that General
George Armstrong Custer rode into history in the legendary battle of
Little Big Horn. So respected by the Native Americans that fought in
that battle that they left Custer's horse 'Commanche' unharmed on the
battlefield. When Caddo Adair is given the task of capturing the horse
it precipitates all manner of unexpected difficulties -- beginning
with an attempt on his life. "The Legend Of Yallow Hole" is the story
of two cattle rustlers, Bibo Adams and Running Iron Smith, and Ardis
Manners, a young woman with a rifle and a job for one of them that
they simply cannot refuse -- as much as they'd like to! The title
piece of the trilogy is "The Curse Of Montezuma", which continues the
adventures of Elgera Douglas, popularly known as Senorita Scorpion.
This time she must go up against someone trying to bring back the
Aztec Empire -- which promises to be every bit as bloody and
oppressive as the old one. "The Curse Of Montezuma" is an outstanding
trilogy and the large print format makes it particularly appropriate
for community library collection.
