April 2013
May it is -- and on the first of May I noticed a green tinge to the
forest of brown deciderous trees I drive through on my way to work.
It is also the first anniversary of Oloris Publishing, for which
congratulations are in order -- but don't spend too much time in
celebration: it is better spent getting that book of Jenny Dolfen's... more »

March 2013
Finally! I am very sorry that it has taken me this long to finish
the March summary, but once more events relating to my off-line life
(mainly family, scouting and work) have conspired to keep me
exceedingly busy for the past two to three weeks, preventing me from
working on these transactions until this weekend (6th-7th April).... more »

February 2013
February has been marked by a period of calming of the onslaught of
Tolkien-related news-items that has marked the previous months --
otherwise I would probably have had to give up trying to present
this, as I ran into a combination of off-line obligations in the
latter half of the month that left me with nearly no time to pursue... more »

January 2012
As my list of sources continues to grow, I find that I need to be
more critical in my approach lest I end up with no time for family
and friends, and therefore I have this month been more selective,
including only items that I have found adds something relevant. This
means that I have omitted some items that would have made the list... more »

Interview with Christopher Tolkien
|
| |
First ever press interview of Christopher Tolkien, the official executor of
J.R.R. Tolkien's estate, and the interpreter of his father's unpublished
works. This original article and interview appeared in Le Monde on July 9,
2012. With the film version of the The Hobbit hitting theaters, we are
publishing it for the first time here in English.... more »

Happy New Year!
Don't forget the Birthday Toast on the 3rd of January! <[link]>
This year Tolkien would have become eleven squared -- I've always
been fond of the number eleven, so this just seemed significant to
me ;-) In more ordinary numbering it will be ten dozen and one... more »

A Soviet view of hobbits
|
| |
I posted something on my blog a while back about a Soviet edition of "The
hobbit", and someone has now posted a comment asking why the illustrations
depicted hobbits with hairy legs. I hope my Russian-speaking friends will
visit, and comment on my comment, to let me know if my explanation is correct!... more »

November 2012
So, November has gone and as I write this, Denmark has been
decorated with a very beautiful white blanket. In another part of the world, summer has started and the new
_Hobbit_ film has already premiered. In due time I will go and watch
it with my family, but compared to how much this has dominated the... more »

October 2012
_Ai! laurië lantar lassi súrinen_ The leaves do fall golden (and gardners are busy raking and
collecting them) and the bones of the trees are gradually coming out
from behind the golden foliage. Driving to work this month has (when
it hasn't been raining) been a breathtaking experience, coming... more »
