I'm going to make a prediction now: the Burmese government's failure to
speed paperwork for relief workers is going to have the same effect the
Katrina fuckups did in the U.S.: it will show up the bankruptcy of a
police-minded government that isn't interested in public services. It
will create a focus for indignation that makes it possible to change
something.

Why don't foreign relief workers simply enter the country without official
permission? The military junta couldn't resist a foreign invasion even in
good times, and right now the country is in such chaos that no functioning
government exists, and relief agencies (backed by foreign troops) should
just cross the border and begin delivering supplies and services. Even
the junta's own troops can be persuaded to defect in exchange for food for
themselves and their families.

Fascists, man, just like Dubya, man. <snorts with laughter>. I'll let
you compare a Republican Government to the Burmese Junta if you let me
compare the Chinese Communist Party to the Labour Government. Get me?
