Recently I was contacted by a family out of Perth Australia
about an article I did on World Champion Wyatt Bell. Graham
King is the father of Mathew king the 5-6 year old world #2.
Matthew met Wyatt at the 2008 UCI world Championships in
China.

It seems Mathew and Wyatt became friends at the race and even
though they live worlds apart the friendship stayed strong. Mathews
Dad Graham had read my article about Wyatt being bullied from a
mother out of California and wanted to chime in on the discussion.

After a couple of emails I realized what a great sport we have
where parents from worlds apart have something in common.

Although being from Colorado we dont see kangaroos outside
of the zoo and Im sure there arent a lot of elk wandering down
under.

What you can find is a mutual love for the American originated
sport of BMX racing. Countries all over the world have taken to
this extreme sport. From Europe to China you can find riders
pushing the first straight. From Australia to Alaska you can watch
racers banging bars and elbows in the turns.

Brazil, France, Canada, Holland, Japan all have great bmx programs.
What was once a California past time BMX has become an international
phenomenon .At every National race another great International BMXer
hits the scene. Last summer BMX was introduced to the world during the
Beijing Olympics. And although the sport originated in the good old USA
we do not completely dominate the competitions.

Herman, Day, Robinson, Harris all have seen the backs of
international jerseys in competition. Olympic gold medalist
Maris Stromberg is a classic case of international domination.

After winning the Olympics Stromberg has been seen all over
America strutting his stuff at National competitions often finishing
on top of the podium. Our great sport of racing BMX bicycles has
taken a whole new look with an international flare.

In a few months the BMX world will all converge in Adelaide Australia
for the 2009 UCI World championships.

America will be sending our fastest racers to compete. And as the
races progress to the main event you can be sure that the Americans
will have to beat some of the fastest riders in the world and they wont
be wearing the red, white and blue jerseys.
