When asked, years afterward, why his charge at Gettysburg failed,
General Pickett said: "I've always thought the Yankees had something to
do with it."
Dear Major,
If you read carefully you will notice that biblical texts claim
different authors
If you disgerard this, you may as well disregard the rest of the texts
too.

Drear Peter,
I am sorry to hear that you are dumb as a plank, but I am sure you have
many other redeeming qualities.
Dear Major
You may not think the world of me,
bu at least I learned to read,
It is probably very stupid to assume a book is telling the truth about
it's author,
but lacking any evidence to the contrary I keep doing it.
Dear Major
Love,
Dear Peter,
I suggest you contact Prof. Bart D. Ehrman, chairman of religious studies
at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. A world-reknown biblical
scholar, he can provide plenty of evidence to the contrary.
Peace,
Bill
You mean I cannot expect any souch knowledge from Major Debacle?
Nor from you?
I found some suggestions on Wikepedia
Paul of Tarsis seems to be the only undisputed author of several
letlters.
but he certainly did not write The Rest! :)
I can't speak for Major, but I will be glad to answer any questions you may
have.

That is correct, Peter. Of the 13 epistles attributed to Paul, he is the
genuine author of six and a possible seventh. Here, take a look for
yourself: www.earlychristianwritings.com If you'd rather read about them,
check out the book "Who Wrote the New Testament," (The making of the
Christian myth), by Burton L. Mack
Thanks Bill, for your informartion, You are of course right in
reminding me that biblical books are not a reliable source of
information as to their authors, but claiming that it is God himself
who attributed the writings to the wrong people - like in the opening
post - does not seem very respectfull towards the diety :-)
Every time someone drops that idea I tend to have more faith in the
books themselves (that claim different authors) that in the "God did
it" theory.
I might purchase the book you mentioned, as I have limited time at my
computer. My wfie often occupies it watchiing Thai videos on You-
tube :-)

There are several books I can recommend to you, Peter. Professor Bart D.
Ehrman has written 20 of them. The last one of his that I read was
"Misquoting Jesus" (The story behind who changed the Bible and why).
Wild Bill wrote:

If it could appear maybe we could respect it !!!!
But that might be a tad too logical for some !!!!
Dear Bob,
If one claims to believe in a diety (and thus imagines it to be more
than something that is dreamed up) and claims it wrote a certain text,
while the text cleary indicates there is another author, one does
declare the diety to be a liar. Indeed declaring your diety to be a
liar means that you honor a liar, If not disrespectfull towards the
diety it is at least disrespectfull towards the truth.
I hope you see the importance of being respectull towards the thruth,
even if we cannot always grasp it.

I do not see your point, unless your point is I should believe what others tell me simply because
there are so many of them saying the same thing.
That would not be respect, it would be stupid.
If by 'grasping the truth' one is supporting the claims of Christianity in the main, then I can tell
you, all I hear are claims by humans about thier god, a god that never speaks for itself. This does
not earn respect, only ridicule.

Dear Bob is it really so hard to understand?
Book P says "written by D"
M claims "written by God"
If "written by God is true", then "Written by D" is a lie.
Hence according to M, God has written a lie.
To claim A liar is your (one and only) God seems immoral to me.
The fact that Gods really do not exist and that M is totally mistaken
is immaterial to this spiritual immorality; M seems worships a liar
and you should mind!

Och Mun, nothing immoral about my wanting those propgating godly stories to provide a little proof,

'Spiritual' to me is simply religiobabble, unles Mun, you can provide a decent definition of the word.

Dear Bob,
I seem to miss any connection between my last contribution and yours.
To me telling lies is immoral and worshipping a liar is immoral.
(maybe worshipping as such is already a way of shaking of one's
morality).
For me as a materialist, The word spiritual does have a definite
meaning. To me it meanseverything that exists solely in the human
mind. Things like "simple" and "religious" are mostly spiritual,
whereas bable, is more material (=sound waves that originate in a
human mouth).
Africa? I am hardly a reliable source about that continent.
The Netherlands are in Europe you know!
I haven't been to that continent since Fiz won the Algerian elections.
(and the "government" declared them invalid)
