Sarah Palin's 17-year-old daughter is pregnant

presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said on Monday
in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers
that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.
Bristol Palin, one of Alaska Gov. Palin's five children with her
husband, Todd, is about five months pregnant and is going to keep the
child and marry the father, the Palins said in a statement released by
the campaign of Republican presidential candidate John McCain.
Bristol Palin made the decision on her own to keep the baby, McCain
aides said.
"We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with
all our heart and mean everything to us," the Palins' statement said.
"Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents
we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. As
Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our
unconditional love and support," the Palins said.
The Palins asked the news media to respect the young couple's privacy.
"Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very
quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will
have the love and support of our entire family. We ask the media,
respect our daughter and Levi's privacy as has always been the
tradition of children of candidates," the statement concluded.

Senior McCain campaign officials said McCain knew of the daughter's
pregnancy when he selected Palin last week as his vice presidential
running mate, deciding that it did not disqualify the 44-year-old
governor in any way.

Gotta agree with McCain here, this is a non-issue. There are plenty of other

I didn't believe it at first... but I've done just a bit of digging.
Gov. Palin did not announce "her" pregnancy until a month before the
baby was born. (She'd have been seven months pregnant when she
announced this, and apparently hiding it VERY well.)
Gov. Palin was in Texas when "her" water broke, a month early. While
experiencing a high-risk pregnancy (her own age, carrying a Down
Syndrome baby, and having signs of impending delivery a month early),
she DECIDED TO FLY TO ALASKA to have "her" baby in a town of 4,500
people.
Apparently, the flight crew didn't notice that a woman about to
deliver was boarding their plane.
Palin did not take maternity leave.
Of course, this evidence is circumstantial. I'd like to see the birth
certificate. And if it's shown that she IS the mother, I'd like to see
a genetic test (since she's Governor of the state in which "she" gave
birth).

and that she has resisted pressure to legislate these beliefs, rather than

(1) I am sensible enough to use the intellect that God gave me
to read the Bible with an eye to which portions are most likely
to have been Divinely-inspired, which ones most likely were
NOT (i.e., non-prophetic portions which contain irrefutable
contradictions or expressions of bigotry that don't align with
Jesus' compassion. All of which has NOTHING to do with
whether or not I happen to "like" or "dislike" something.
(2) Expressing one's opinions (and in my case, well-founded
ones doesn't make ANY person a Bible "revisionist." Even
though I'm a book publisher, I have never published any

The problems of the Palin family are exactly that, the problems of the
Palin family. I could care less because because kids of politicians
do become pregnant out of wedlock regardless of party affiliation.
But what strikes me as supremely hypocritical is the stance of the OP
and other Republicans who make up lies like that above about Bill
Clinton and expect it to pass simply because it has been 8 years since
Bill was in the White House. There were never any allegations of such
taking place and no evidence put forward to support allegations of
such behaviour. And there were plenty of Republican attack dogs
looking for anything to smear him with from the time he announced his
candidacy until he left the White House.
Now on to other matters. Mrs Palin concerns me on a variety of
levels. She is from a state of population 600,000 and was at one time
a member of the so-called "independence party" in that state. As
mayor she ran a town of less than 10,000 people, hardly a big deal.
She has no idea what a vice president does. She has no idea when the
Pledge of Allegiance was first put into words or when the phrase
"under God" was added to it or why. She is anti choice and she is
oblivious to the environment. She wanted to ban books from the town
library when she entered office but apparently was dissuaded of that
foolhardy action by cooler heads. She knows nothing of foreign
affairs and has shown some very questionable personal choices in her
life, like flying across country while in labor putting an infant at
risk. I admire her for sticking by her daughter during this pregnancy
but I question her judgment in the shot gun marriage approach to
solving a family situation given the ages of children involved and the
fact that such marriages often end in failure statistically.
But Mrs. Palin is red meat being tossed to the wolves by the McCain
people. They want people to attack her in hopes of solidifying their
conservative religious base which is none too thrilled about McCain.
She was not picked because she was qualified for the position, in fact
she is eminently unqualified for the job. But she diverts discussion
away from other issues, the real issues of the campaign. McCain's
candidacy is Bush redux, more of the same and nothing else. Despite
McCain's often touted claim of being a maverick, he has towed the
party line 90% of the time and has supported Bush's policies when ever
it was important to do so. In economic policy and energy policy as
well as foreign policy he is lined up with Bush and the failed
policies of this administration perfectly. So we can expect continued
foreign intervention abroad, a continuance of the oil first lobby's
proposals, continued cuts in taxes for rich corporation and top 1% of
the population who own virtually everything in this country while the
middle class and poor make do with less and let us not forget the
continued use of cheap immigrant [illegal] labor to undercut the wages
of American citizens and residents.
The Republican party no longer stands for the principles on which it
was founded. If Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt were alive today
they would be screaming their heads off. The present Republican Party
has declared war on the middle class and the poor, undercutting
programs that support education, social development, justice and work
safety, encourage the shipment of American jobs overseas with nothing
real to replace them [just low paying service industry jobs], while
our infrastructure slides into oblivion from lack of upkeep much less
development. The buying power of the dollar has slid so low that
Canadian are asking American shop keepers "how much is that in real
dollars" while American retirees and poor are deciding whether to eat
this week or pay for medicines they need to sustain life. Not since
the Gilded Age has there been such a disparity between what the
working and middle classes earn and what the rich earn. Not since the
Gilded Age has there been such a disparity between the access to
education, medical care, and economic advancement between the poor,
working class and middle class and the rich. The working class and
middle class struggle to keep a roof over their heads while the rich
struggle to decide whether to buy another multimillion dollar vacation
"cottage" in Jackson Hole or Sun Valley.
But are we offered any serious discussion about medical care reform,
economic policies, energy independence policies etc.? Of course not.
Instead we are bombarded with nonsense about Clinton using cocaine
[untrue] and hypocritical denunciations of people who question Mrs.
Palin's family management policy when we all know that if Mrs. Palin
were a Democrat those same people would be denouncing her as the Whore
of Babylon. The fact is that entire scenario is too disgusting for
words. The Republic has fallen my friends and the Imperium has
commenced. The founding Fathers must be spinning in their graves.
The Republic they fought so long and hard for has ceased to exist,
replaced by an Empire complete with bread and circuses for the masses.

Brother Thurgood doesn't believe in brainwashing. He took me aside
for special counseling at our Mount Golgotha Pain Center. After a few
hours of treatment I feel much stronger in the faith than ever

faith healing and prayer. No one in our church hates homo-sexuals.
