Oh. That's easy. The 'soul' starts showing it's true nature when
primed with a bit too much alcohol.
I think. Put it this way. Some time ago (I'm now 22 yrs. sober. and
that without ever buying into aa's god bullshit) I went whole yrs.
without drawing a sober breath, and during some periods drank myself
well into 'blackout' on a nightly basis. On a conscious level, I was,
well, 'passed out' and consciously, recorded nothing, and some more
primal part of my 'psyche' was doing my walking, talking, drinking,
and yes, every fucking night, driving. I would usually wake up after
sun-up as I slid sideways into the driveway. They were some
infuckingsane times and I was just one very lucky bastard that I never
killed anyone. One night, as I fish tailed in some sand banging a hard
left, I lost the dude with me out the front passengers door (it so
happened that I 'came to' at that moment) and I remember seeing him
slide away on his back. He bent the door handle back from trying to
hang on (he had been holding the door shut 'cause I'd fucked it up
earlier that night) and I stopped right there in the middle of the
street and went and told him to quit lying around like that or the
police might notice and give us shit. He had a huge raw spot on his
back 'cause his leather jacket had rolled up and didn't think it was
very funny. Crazy fucking night that was.

Yeah maybe the Soul is connected to the brain (sorry I've been reading

is split up as well.

I almost reached that point a few weeks ago at the Stratosphere in Vegas.
I'm pretty sure I left $50 on a video poker machine when I fell off the
bar stool trying to get up to go to the restroom. My wife found me
wandering around and took me to the buffet to get some food in there. I
don't remember, but the evidence was on my shirt. My gambling buddy woke
up the next morning with an extra thousand dollars in his wallet.
Somebody told him he hit a straight-flush.
Yeah, that's no lifestyle for me. Nice little 6-pack beer buzz is fine,
but I'm starting to think it's time to quit. The acid reflux in the
middle of the night is killing me...
You and me both, boyo.
Consider this, Seon, in light of your coming out and philisophical
musings:
1) Two young people each give their lives, perhaps for another person
or ideal (perhaps they are soldiers?). Which one gives the bigger
gift or has the bigger sacrifice?
2) If you do anything for long enough, you become bored with it.
Even mainline junkies and 'base-jumpers' need 'more' as they
aclimitise to their state. Surely then an eternity in either heaven
or hell will eventually get boring. Following such logic, there is no
real difference between heaven and hell, as the result of eternity in
either is overwhelming and oppressive boredom.

Well the person is real. But the ideal the person giving his or her life for
might be just as real to him and her. As I said we all have our own truths.

Yeah that's another reason I am drawn to reincarnation. But there is still
no evidence. At least we keep forgetting our past lives each time we are
reborn so each birth is fresh. But what the heck do we do in heaven for
millions of years?
And before any atheist points it out yes, I now understand reincarnation is
a religious concept and there is no definitive proof. It just makes more
sense to me.

We are. But only recently have we discovered what causes it. The
concept of a single soul residing and controlling the human mind makes no
sense when we study disorders of the human mind such as schizophrenia.
Add to that memory loss when a certain lobe of the brain is damaged, or
stark changes in personality when damage occurs to the frontal lobes - it
becomes obvious. We've found a mass of evidence as to what causes us to
be "us". The religious claim it is the soul - but where is their
evidence?

There is no hell.
Very interesting.
I propose the soul is the essence of a person.
Like the smell of a flower. And the Brain and memory is a part of that
essence.
When they are cremated or buried their chemical composition disperses
but how far apart we do not know.
In the ground plants and soil absorb the chemicals.
I believe the human soul is the mingling of chemicals that due to
natural forces remaining .
Even with rotting decay it may be more than one nano partical at a

magnetic attraction even unseen but certainly not unsmelt on the

Leave a paper bag with one of my turds on your door step?
You shall then smell my drifting soul when you step out the door and

When it pops, poop shall spatter on your pjama's bottoms and you can

For some reason most churches keep very quiet about the idea that you
will get your body back at some future point (I think it is at the
last judgement). Of course that only works if your body has been
buried whole in consecrated ground. That's why executed criminals were
usually buried near the place they were killed, and "witches" had
their bodies burned even if they were killed before being put on the
fire, it was some kind of extra punishment - they would not have any
chance of an afterlife. It is also why some christian versions still
regard cremation as a Very Bad Thing (is the catholic church still
insisting on no cremation? - I think it is but cannot be bothered to
check). Also some versions are opposed to organ transplants - you are
going to need that liver in the afterlife.
Lisbeth.

The day I don't learn anything new is the day I die.
*What we know is not nearly as interesting as *how we know it.
The Bible talks about 2 kinds of heavenly journeys 1stly itsd the
masses of good people who have died and after a thousand years their
souls are accepted into the journey to heaven then 2ndly their is a
smaller group who will not ever pyhisically die whpo shall journey to
heaven intact .
Many modern churchs hide the fact that you do not have to die because
this encourage people look vigorously care upon their immune system
taxing food resorces and creating large numbers of illectuals that
question aurthority and oppresive governmental regimes that prefer to
keep the masses subserviant and meagre.

There is none. Its like God. Either you accept people have had NDE's, OBE's,
seen ghosts etc or you believe it is all in their mind.
It makes sense to me. Once we have control of the human mind we think we are
the experience so that's why we get mental problems and even now that i
realise we are not the experience but I'm the experiencer having this human
experience I am still susceptible to those disorders.
Oh wait i get what you were trying to say, because the brain gets damaged or
something we have memory loss! So obviously yes some aspects of the mind can
get influenced by the brain. But what about sub conscious memories that can
only come to the surface from hypnosis? We can't find the area of the brain
they exist.
Phew at least I got what you meant in the end. At least I hope. if i didn't
maybe I am hopeless.

I like the free choice part, you know, Adam, Lilith, Eve, Abraham, Moses,
every Hebrew Prophet, the Pharoah in Exodus, all those that just told god
