THE MAN WHO GATHERED STICKS
ON THE SABBATH DAY

In the matter of the man who was found gathering sticks on the
sabbath day, we read:

"And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they
found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day. And they
that found him gathering sticks brought him unto Moses and
Aaron, and unto all the congregation. And they put him in ward,
because it was not declared what should be done to him. And the
LORD said unto Moses, The man shall be surely put to death: all
the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp.
And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and
stoned him with stones, and he died; as the LORD commanded
Moses." Numbers 15:32-36

It was the LORD, not Moses, that determined that the man be put
to death.

"...for the LORD searches all hearts, and understands every plan
and thought. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you
forsake Him, he will cast you off for ever." (1 Chronicles 28:9)

The LORD determined that the man had hardened his heart. He
had despised the word of the LORD. He had profaned the sabbath
with a high hand and his presumptuous sin would not be forgiven.*

"And all the churches shall know that I am He who searches mind
and heart, and I will give to each of you as your works deserve."
(Revelation 2:23)

Jesus is searching our hearts and is going to judge us according to
our intentions regarding the sabbath day. The writer of Hebrews,
gave this alarm:

"TODAY WHEN YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN
YOUR HEARTS AS IN THE REBELLION."

Hebrews 4:11, says that we are to be wary of falling by
disobedience, and a previous verse (Hebrews 4:9) tells us what
particular kind of disobedience of which we were to be wary...

"So then, there remains a sabbath rest for the people of God; for
whoever enters God's rest also ceases from his labors as God did
from his. Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, that no one fall
by the same sort of disobedience." Hebrews 4:9-11 RSV

The warning is clear, Jesus is looking at the intentions of our hearts
about the sabbath. If we know to keep the sabbath day holy and
then go ahead and break it by working for money, or setting it aside
in order to keep our worldly pleasures, we will fall by the same sort
of disobedience that caused the man who picked up sticks to fall in
the wilderness. He never entered God's rest and received the death
penalty.

* Note - These verses that pertain to sins of ignorance and sins of
presumption precede the account of the man who picked up sticks
on the sabbath day:

Numbers 15:29 Ye shall have one law for him that sinneth through
ignorance, both for him that is born among the children of Israel,
and for the stranger that sojourneth among them.

Numbers 15:30 But the soul that doeth ought presumptuously,
whether he be born in the land, or a stranger, the same reproacheth
the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from among his people.

Numbers 15:31 Because he hath despised the word of the LORD,
and hath broken his commandment, that soul shall utterly be cut
off; his iniquity shall be upon him.

a. Sins of ignorance condemn to death (Lev 5:17) and required
atonement ( Num 15:28)

b. Presumptuous (willful) sin not forgiven (Num 15:30)

c. The day of atonement covered only sins of ignorance. (Heb 9:7)

"Christians" who presumptuously disobey any of the
commandments of God (including the sabbath commandment)
have either never fully repented --or they have blasphemed the
Holy Spirit of God.

Try that today and you end up in Jail or on death row. Seems like
murder, no wonder it was easy for the Jews to demand the death of
Jesus, not a nice group of people. So are you saying God said it was
OK to Kill His only begotten Son of God, the only Saviour, since Jesus
did break the Sabbath and even said in Him, He was God and could do as
God wanted and even healed on the Sabbath again breaking the Law?

Dear Reader,

JESUS DID NOT PROFANE THE SABBATH!

The Jews (of the 5th chapter of John) were wicked men who
slandered Jesus because he didn't observe their TRADITIONS
regarding the Sabbath.

The apostle John did NOT say that Jesus broke the Sabbath
--nor do the scriptures say that Jesus broke the Sabbath. *
On the contrary, they tell us that Jesus was without sin.

"For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched
with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points
tempted like as we are, YET WITHOUT SIN."
Heb 4:15 (KJV)

* If Jesus had disobeyed the Sabbath Commandment, we
would not have a Savior. Jesus would have only died for
his own sin.

Well, so said Moses. The only thing we know with any degree of
certainty is that Moses said, that God said. Now, you can choose to
believe that it was the fabled God thingy and not Moses that made the
call if you please, but really, you show what a gullible twit you are
when you do.

Says you, not the Holy Bible as the Jewish leaders the rabbi and such
did say Jesus and His disciples did profane the sabbath, unless you
have another word for profane then they did have. Jesus healed on the
sabbath and they told him he was breaking or profaning the sabbath for
doing so. He told his apostles to pick corn on the sabbath and Jesus
pointed out even David did that when his men were hungry and they took
it from the temple.

Oh now if some Jew does not agree with YOU they are wicked people,
they were rabbi and members of the temple so all priest now are wicked
if they use the law and point to the sabbath laws, but do not agree
with you sect, nice try, only you have nothing to support that. I am
sure you do not observe the TRADITIONS about the sabbath either. Now
lets look at the Jews that you say were evil people and see JOHN
CHAPTER FIVE BELOW.

John 5:1-23
After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to
Jerusalem. 2 Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which
is called in Hebrew, Bethesda, having five porches. 3 In these lay a
great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for
the moving of the water. 4 For an angel went down at a certain time
into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first,
after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he
had. 5 Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight
years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had
been in that condition a long time, He said to him, "Do you want to be
made well?"
7 The sick man answered Him, "Sir, I have no man to put me into the
pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another
steps down before me."
8 Jesus said to him, "Rise, take up your bed and walk." 9 And
immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked.

And that day was the Sabbath. 10 The Jews therefore said to him who
was cured, "It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your
bed."

11 He answered them, "He who made me well said to me, 'Take up your
bed and walk.'"

12 Then they asked him, "Who is the Man who said to you, 'Take up your
bed and walk'?" 13 But the one who was healed did not know who it was,
for Jesus had withdrawn, a multitude being in that place. 14 Afterward
Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, "See, you have been
made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you."

15 The man departed and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made
him well.

Honor the Father and the Son

16 For this reason the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to kill Him,
because He had done these things on the Sabbath. 17 But Jesus answered
them, "My Father has been working until now, and I have been
working."

18 Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not
only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making
Himself equal with God. 19 Then Jesus answered and said to them, "Most
assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what
He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like
manner. 20 For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things
that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these,
that you may marvel. 21 For as the Father raises the dead and gives
life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will. 22 For the
Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, 23
that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who
does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.
NKJV

NO John did not say so, the JEWS SAID SO and John just recorded what
was said!

> --nor do the scriptures say that Jesus broke the Sabbath. *
> On the contrary, they tell us that Jesus was without sin.

Since the verse in John chapter five ARE PART OF THE SCRIPTURES what
the Jews said is what the scriptures do say. Sure Jesus was without
sin as He is God as well as man, and JESUS is the LORD OF THE
SABBATH. What Jesus said is he LAW to the Church and Jesus is above
the law of the SABBATH! Mark 2:27-28

27 And He said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for
the Sabbath. 28 Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the
Sabbath."
NKJV

Luke 6:1-5
His disciples plucked the heads of grain and ate them, rubbing them in
their hands. 2 And some of the Pharisees said to them, "Why are you
doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath?"

3 But Jesus answering them said, "Have you not even read this, what
David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him: 4 how
he went into the house of God, took and ate the showbread, and also
gave some to those with him, which is not lawful for any but the
priests to eat?" 5 And He said to them, "The Son of Man is also Lord
of the Sabbath." NKJV

ONLY YOU FOLLOW THE JESUS LAW AND THEIR HIGH PRIEST THAT SURE WAS ONLY
A MAN AND NOT JESUS. Jesus is the high priest of the Church and one
can note, nothing in that verse points to the Sabbath. It is Christian
doctrine as seen in the New Testament.

Then Jesus never as as the Law giver never told the church, His church
to obey the Sabbath commandment that was only for the Jews, as they
rejected Jesus as saviour and they that did put the Law ahead of the
salvation did die in their sins. Jesus lives and took the sins of all
the sinners, He became sin for us, and by doing so, finish the law of
the prophets and open the door for "all the world" and told His
follows to preach the Gospel to all the world so not only the jews but
anyone can come unto Him.

You are lost and need the saviour.

Matt 11:12-14
12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of
heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force. 13 For all
the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
NKJV

Matt 22:34-40

34 But when the Pharisees heard that He had silenced the Sadducees,
they gathered together. 35 Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a
question, testing Him, and saying, 36 "Teacher, which is the great
commandment in the law?"

37 Jesus said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your
heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' 38 This is the
first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'You shall
love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 On these two commandments hang
all the Law and the Prophets."

Dear Reader,

Evil men slandered Jesus when they accused him of profaning the
sabbath. Jesus said they were guiltless:

Mat 12:7 But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy,
and not sacrifice, YE WOULD NOT HAVE CONDEMNED THE GUILTLESS.

If Jesus ever profaned the sabbath, we would not have a saviour. He
would have died for his own sins.

Yes the same evil men you seem to follow now.

Learn to read the post that did answer your silly statements then just
