Description: Summary:



The Certified Special Education Teacher's major responsibilities are to provide student's with challenging and successful academic experiences with a therapeutic classroom environment, and to develop their own skills as professional educators.



1. Evaluate and assess student instructional and behavioral needs.



2. Maintain compliance according to the School District of Philadelphia's EASY IEP system classroom caseload.



3. Plan and implement the Individual Education Plans, Evaluation Reports, Functional Behavior Assessments, and Positive Behavior Support Plans according to management relative to the needs of the individual student in accordance with the school philosophy and goals.



4. Complete weekly and monthly reports, plans, data and records that are relative to the CATCH educational program and School District of Philadelphia.



5. Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team of School District of Philadelphia and CATCH Leadership team and classroom support staff through formal and informal meetings and informal consultations.



6. Implement the Program Behavior Modification System.



7. Actively participate in and contribute to in-service trainings and CATCH monthly seminar. 



8. Facilitate daily CATCH staff meetings with the Teacher's Assistant and Classroom Mentor.



9. Collaborate with Educational Supervisor/Special Education Coordinator pertaining to classroom dynamics, host school relations, and outside related services that accompanying the students.



10. All other duties as assigned by the Educational CATCH Leadership Team.





MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:



Bachelor's Degree in Education, specifically Special Education, and a Pennsylvania State Teacher Certification (Intern, Instructional I or Instructional II). Previous experience teaching students with emotional and behavioral disorders preferred. Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory PA Criminal, Child Abuse and FBI clearances. Must be able to successfully pass a physical. Must be physically able to: a) climb stairs: b) take public transportation; c) assist with restraining students in emergency situations.
