Description: Model Risk Management has enterprise-wide oversight responsibility for all aspects of model risk including model governance, model validation and model performance monitoring. The scope of the team includes model risk ratings, model inventory management, model disclosures, model usage tracking and controls.
This highly visible position will manage the activities related to coordination, communication, implementation, execution, completion of specific projects ensuring consistency with the governance framework, policies and procedures,
Major areas of responsibility include:
Understand and analyze complex quantitative models and the risks and controls around their usage
Create and execute project work plans and collaborate with business units to work on areas based upon the requirements of model governance process.
Helps to enforce standard policies and procedures related to tiering of findings, model usage and tracking and process controls associated with the modeling process
Maintain and keep up-to-date a repository of all model documentation and ensure that a standardized approach is used
Maintain status updates, and facilitate resolution/escalations of issues in a timely fashion. Create periodic analytical and update presentations and reports for senior management, executive committees, and for regulatory exams
Lead the efforts in standardization, automation, workflow management. Contribute in enhancing current process for model validation
Interact with the external regulators and internal auditors to demonstrate the operational soundness and effectiveness of the model governance policy
Manage the model inventory and lead process improvements and infrastructure development projects
Assist in special projects as they arise
Relationships:
Reports to Senior Manager in Model Risk Management
Interfaces with business partners in Finance (Strategy Planning & Treasury), Credit Risk, Marketing and Banking
Bachelors (with at least 5 years of experience) OR a Masters degree (with at least 3 years of experience) in disciplines related to MIS, process engineering or business administration.
Experience in the areas of financial planning, credit risk management or analytics
Proven experience in project management, understand complex business processes, risks, and controls. Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and follow through on completion of high-profile projects.
Hands on experience in Microsoft Access (or other databases), SQL, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint
Possess general understanding in the areas of application programming, database and system design.
Proven ability to work in collaborative and team environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to interact with all levels of organization as well as internal and external customers and to communicate technical information to any audience.
Experience in credit card/payments industry strongly preferred.
Prior process control/ process review/ internal audit experience preferred
PMP, LEAN/Six Sigma certification strongly preferred.
Prior experience in handling risk data, policies, and procedures
Knowledge of current regulations and guidelines, prior experience in interaction with regulators.
