Description:   The role requires a software developer based in the New Jersey office for a 6 month assignment.  Work will include both global and local projects with full life-cycle involvement from analysis and design through to implementation and support.  Responsibilities will include working closely with representatives across the business to refine requirements and develop solutions to meet these demands.  The successful candidate will also be involved in delivering global projects, working closely with other members of the global IT team.  Good teamwork & communication skills are essential. The systems developed and supported by the group range from trade matching & confirmation to transaction entry and netting.  These systems are developed and deployed globally using a number of technologies primarily - Java, C#, C++ & Sybase. A typical day within the team will include any of the following:- - Maintain and support existing production systems directly with the business users. - To work closely with operations to establish requirements. - Work as part of the Global IT team. - Work on development of global strategic projects and regional specific tools. - Build & maintain strong relationships with business users and other technology teams - Understand the key drivers of the business and the products traded  DEVELOPMENT PROSPECTS The role involves working closely with the business & other technology teams presenting an opportunity to learn a great deal about the asset management business and become familiar with a variety of products traded from simple listed products like equity & bonds to complex OTC derivatives. The role will also involve promoting good analysis, developing and support practices.  This will provide an opportunity to show strategic initiative and leadership in these areas.   Basic Qualifications   SKILL / EXPERIENCE MANDATORY   4+ yrs experience in business facing IT role.   Highly motivated with a desire to work in a technical role closely aligned with the business.   Strong analytical skills.  Attention to detail.   Strong teamwork skills along with experience in coaching / mentoring.   Strong communication and client-facing skills.   Strong desire to learn the business.   Personal organization and task management.   Sybase/SQL experience critical.   Experience with C++ and/or Java language is essential.   Experience with C# is desirable.     QUALIFICATIONS University Degree or equivalent
