Senior Project Manager


REPORTS TO:


VP Refining Services / VP Power Services


POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide overall administrative and technical management on construction projects from bid preparation through final acceptance by client.


FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB


Essential Functions


1.


Incorporate safety and environmental responsibility into daily action.
2.


Utilize and improve Management System for effective and efficient fulfillment of requirements from customers, regulators, policies, objectives and targets.
3.


Incorporate positive interpersonal skills when communicating or interacting with customer, subcontractor, vendor, craft and personnel.
4.


Employ organizational skills that effectively minimize obstacles that negatively impact the project.


When obstacles arise, employ sound decision making/problem solving skills to resolve the issue.
5.


Provide initial client contact to assess scope of work and resources required to successfully complete the project.
6.


Work with the contracts department to complete a detailed review of proposal specifications, drawings, takeoff information, contracting and the like.
7.


Supervise total construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule. Includes interfacing with client representatives, engineering representatives, other contractors, etc.
8.


Plan, coordinate and supervise functions (scheduling, engineering, material control) and may provide day-to-day direction of onsite administrative staff in accounting, purchasing, etc.
9.


Provide technical assistance, i.e. interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment, etc., as required. Initiate and maintain extra work estimating and issuance of change orders.
10.


Assume responsibility for productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance of the project.
11.


Participate in “lessons learned” meetings upon completion of a project.
12.


Travel outside the local area, by air and car, when required to maintain position’s essential functions.
13.


Complete customer survey forms.

Perform additional assignments per the direction of VP Power/Refining services and/or VP of Operations.

Climb ladders and stairs of customer facilities.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS


Knowledge:

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience. Thorough knowledge of company procedures, estimating techniques, cost control systems and accounting required. Ability to estimate all types of projects and contracts, plus ability to coordinate and supervise group work effort is essential.


Experience:


Extensive (eight or more years) construction management experience, estimating, cost control, craft supervision and/or engineering in the refining or power industry.


Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids:
(Which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.)


Computer hardware and software, including: Microsoft Office (Windows, Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint); scheduling and cost tracking software: (ViewPoint or similar); internet use and innovation. Ability to learn other software, if required, with company-provided training.


License(s)/Certification(s) Required:


Valid state-issued driver’s license.
