Description: Oversee the manual and mechanical polishing of hard crystals, sapphire, BK7, glass, fused silica, and germanium down to the atomic level using spherical, double-sided lapping, and conventional techniques.
Additional responsibilities include:
*** Developing the overall departmental strategy for: budgeting, equipment procurement, process implementation, work scheduling, training, and hiring.
*** Managing the performance of conventional shaping, grinding, polishing, lapping, and blocking.
*** Overseeing the set up and operation of conventional, high speed, and finishing spindles.
*** Evaluate sub-angstrom super polishing results.
*** Monitoring and evaluating processes and indicating improvement areas.
*** Overseeing work performed on double sided polishers, grinders, and CNC polishers.
*** Inspect finished work with interferometers, profilometers, autocollimators, and test plates.
Candidate must possess at least 3 years comparable experience.
