Job Functions: Service/Skilled - Trades - Position Purpose This
positions is responsible for executing the merchandising
objectives for category/categories of merchandise. Makes most of
the buying decisions for a particular category. Works with key
merchandising resources in the department to drive item selection
and pricing for a category or group of classes/subclasses.
Optimizes assortment based on key financial drivers and item
performance. Develops suppliers and negotiates terms. Major
Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities * Merchandising
Execution: Executes merchandising strategy and works to
understand the key components or business drivers (e.g.
historical pefromance, industry/competitive landscape, consumer
identification, and SOAR). * Financial Planning and Management:
Executes the financial strategy/targets for a
category/class/subclass and influences assortment guidelines and
parameters. Decides pricing and executes a pricing strategy. *
Assortment Selection: Executes the business review process;
decides which items to send to product line review; decides when
new products should be included in the assortment mix; leverages
supplier relationships to optimize assortment; and works with key
support functions to ensure accurate projections. * Supplier
Selection Management: Influences the supplier strategy and
executes the supplier portfolio. * Responsible for making key
decisions on sourcing new suppliers and working to develop them;
in addition, the position negotiates terms * Special Projects:
May serve as a key contributor on various key projects within a
business function (e.g. capital). Nature and Scope * Typically
reports to MVP or DMM * No direct responsibility for supervising
others. Environmental Job Requirements Located in a comfortable
indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and
not objectionable. Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20%
of the time. Essential Functions: Minimum Qualifications * Must
be eighteen years of age or older * Must pass the Drug Test *
Must pass the Background Check * Must pass pre-employment tests
if applicable Education Required - The knowledge, skills and
abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor
s degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related
to the job. Years of Relevant Work Experience - 6 Physical Job
Requirements - Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable
position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare
occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Additional Qualifications - Proven experience in managing
categories that are national in scope; proven ability to manage
upward of $200MM in sales. Experience managing a business
(financial, operational, process, people, technology etc). Strong
project execution; ability to negotiate pricing terms, co-op and
rebate etc. Preferred Qualifications * Bachelor s degree,
preferably in business * Proven experience in merchandising
execution, visual merchandising, new concepts, inventory
management, channel management, and supplier management. *
Proven ability to manage large scale projects in a complex
environment * Proven ability in a retail enviornment *
