Description: Job Requisition Number: 17942 Job Title: STRATEGIC BUYER III Employment Status: Full Time Division: JLG Location: Hagerstown Job Description: Responsible for the most cost effective use of Company funds to procure assigned materials and services. Support the material and information requirements of JLG to meet short and long range objectives through effective supply chain management. This position provides the primary interface between JLG Operations and the supply base.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Manage Suppliers to ensure adequate capacity to support JLG.
Contract Negotiations with suppliers regarding price and delivery commitments for new quotes/contracts and existing purchase orders.
Obtain quotations as a basis for negotiating contracts for new contracts and expired existing items from qualified suppliers.
Initially load materials management programs with the Suppliers in support of the needs of manufacturing/operations and contribute to cost effective procurement.
Coordinate major production schedule changes with the suppliers by negotiating price adjustments for either up or down volume swings.
Assist in setting standard costs and controlling PPV of assigned commodities in compliance with the methods and/or guidelines developed by the Controller.
Load and maintain data integrity as relates to the business software.
Manage and be cognitive of all strategic communications between JLG and suppliers of assigned commodities.
Maintain a professional "arms length" business relationship with suppliers.
Work effectively with all other JLG personnel to assure compliance with the Company mission.
Select suppliers in assigned commodities.
Collaborate with Engineering on existing models and on new product development projects.
Conduct commodity market research on assigned commodities.
Facilitate supplier integration with IPD teams.
Process Engineering changes for purchased components.
Complete management of assigned commodities including price, quality, delivery, and warranty. This includes technical coordination and performance metric reporting.
Responsible for change management of suppliers.
Coordinate and conduct supplier certifications and audits.
Consolidate, rationalize and reduce supply base for assigned commodities.
Lead major initiatives for productivity improvements/value engineering with suppliers.
Conduct outsourcing of non-core competencies.
Participate in long term planning and strategic management reporting.
Conduct all business within Company policies and procedures; including appropriate approvals.
Maintain a current knowledge of purchasing as well as assigned commodities.
Accomplish projects assigned by Purchasing Management.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration or Engineering and five to eight years of purchasing experience. Thorough knowledge of purchasing policies and procedures and sound business controls is needed. Must have commodity experience in an allied industry and/or in Operations and/or in Engineering.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
