Description: The Key Responsibilities for this include the following:
The Software Engineer / Architect will be responsible for the technical architecture, detailed technical design and development of Java/J2EE software modules and components to support the enviornment. The applications in these areas are custom developed and primarily in Java. Responsibilities inlcude leading project teams of two or more developers in the requirements analysis, technical design, and development of new software modules and the enhancement of existing ones.
The ideal candidate will contribute equally to the design and development of core architectural components, the development of UI and Java components and the definition of backend database needs. Will also contribute to the future architecture direction of the application and participate in the analysis and evaluation of industry best practices and emerging technologies.
Also responsible for contributing to and using project wide tools and standards; leading design; and code reviews; contributing to the ongoing support of the Grants, Sponsored and ID card applications including fixing bugs and deploying new builds of the application. Basic Qualifications- BS Degree in Computer Science or equivalent technology - 5-10 years experience in detailed technical design of Java/J2EE - Strong communication skills - Abillity to work close with business owners to understand projects, scope and specifications.
- Ability to translate business requirements into designs. - Ability to design UI and Java components and the definition of backend database changes. - Experience in full SDLC - Familiar with application architecture components
Technical Requirements: - J2EE (3 plus years): JSP, Servlets, JDBC, JMS, J2EE Frameworks (JSF, Struts, Spring), EJB, XML and web services (SOAP, JAX-RPC). - RDBMS (Oracle Preferred): strong SQL and Data Modeling - Application Servers: BEAs Weblogic - Platforms: Windows, UNIX and Linux
Any experience with the following would be a plus:
- Perl, Python, C - Experience designing enterprise software development architectures is a plus. - Ability to learn new technologies
