I hope this will Help With Registering a Nickname and Maintaining
Your Own IRC Channel and Nickname or Help Connect to a friend's
channel.
I will try and keep this simple. If you Read this from the BBS your
all ready Over Half Way to the IRC server.
Skip to Section 4a (Signing In and Out) if you all ready have a client
and have a IRC User ID.

How to Connect to a Internet Relay Chat Server
----------------------------------------------
You Need a Client the best and fastest way I think is to Download and
install Mozilla this will not replace your windows default IE browser.
I mostly use Mozilla. You can use both IE (Internet Explorer) or
Mozilla. Mozilla is very easy to add things to it. Use mozilla
and chatzilla when you want to chat on the irc network.

If your Blonde: Open your browser Click square in right
corner and resize your screen pull browser down to bottom
of screen. To Copy and Paste URL - Hold Left Mouse Button
Down and Mouse Over http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/ starting
from the right Highlight the URL let off the mouse button
with URL highlighted --> http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/
then right click scroll down to copy and left click then
click in the address bar of your browser push the backspace
key then right click and scroll down to paste and left click.
Then Push <ENTER>.
Or Type in by Hand Do Not make a mistake.

The Client I like is Called ChatZilla is a addon for Mozilla Firefox
Write these links down and or Copy and Paste to Your Browsers Address
Bar or Type them in by hand.
After Installing Mozilla
Open the https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/16/ # link
then Click Add to FireFox that is all there is to it for getting started
with Mozilla Firefox and ChatZilla as your client.

To Connect to PGG IRC Chat Server Using FireFox And ChatZilla Plugin

Use a IRC client - mozilla and ChatZilla Plugin

1.) Look for Additional Services
2.) Click IRC Link this should. Launch ChatZilla
From your Browser and connect you to PGG IRC Chat Server.
3.) type this command.
/join #pggentoo <--To join Channel PGG
Now Skip to Section 4 (To set up a username with NickServ and Identify
Yourself
After You Connect)
Section 3

To Connect Using Built in windows Telnet Client
------------------------------------------------
1.) Click Start
2.) Click Run
3.) Click in Open Box Type
4.) cmd.exe (Push the <ENTER> key) (This Should Open a Dos window)
Now type the following commands Hitting <Enter> After Each Command
5.) telnet
6.) op
7.) www.pggentoo.com 24
8.) Now login to with your BBS username or Create an Account. Note! if you
created a IRC nick it may be different from your useername to logon to
the bbs. You May have to Hit enter several or 6 times or if your at
reading messages. It will say Read your mail now? Yes or No using your
arrow keys pick No (if you want to go directly to IRC Chat.) You may Also
Choose to read messages you can hit Q at any time to abort new message
scan. Now! you should be at the Synchronet Main Menu Selections
From the PGG main menu. Hit the Following Keys:
9.) C
10.) R
11.) Hit <ENTER> You Should now Be on PGG Internet Chat
12.) Skip to Section 4 (To set up a username with NickServ and Identify
Yourself After You Connect)

To set up a username with NickServ and Identify Yourself After You Connect

/nick General_MDK <--How I made my nick or userid #To set your nick
or ID (my Nick/UserID example)
#How to Set your own nick, screen name , user id up.
/nick yournick <-replace yournick with your chooson nick or username id
providing it isn't all ready taken. If the NickServer says
something about you must identify the nick you choose
may all ready be in use!
/msg nickserv register password gener...@pgg.synchro.net #Register your
Nick with nickserv
(My Example)
/msg nickserv identify password #Identify Yourself With the nickserver
(To Identify Yourself after Login or connecting)
/msg nickserv register yourpassworduwant youremail
#(Register your Nick and Set a Password (Command Example)
Note: nickserv may deny some certain characters in an email address.
Choose another email if this happens.
/msg nickserv identify yourpassword #Identify Yourself With the nickserver
(To Identify Yourself after Login)
Section 4a

Signing In and Signing Out

This is ALL an Example what to do if my nick was joe and my password was
1234!
and I want to login!
What I would do if I all ready know and followed steps 1 through 4 and have
registered a nick and set my password.
By now you know how to connect to the IRC network.
do these commands after connecting.
/nick joe
/msg nickserv identify 1234
/join #pggentoo
to receive a channel list type:
/list
Always type #channel <--replace channel with the channel name you would
like to switch to.
How to Logoff
/quit
/quit Went to bed #Logging off with a reason Example
Do Not Do Any of these Commands Unless You are Channel Operator Or have your
Own Channel.
