What constitues "success" for a bass player?

Sometimes on this ng we read about well piad gigs, or gigs with guest
musicians showing up, or gigs that are simply well paid - ultimately,
all these factors have a "satisfaction" level attached to them, which
will vary depending on each individual's needs at the time. But in the
end, what is a satisfying gig for a bass player? Well paid? Good band
members, good venue? Or simply, as it would be my case, just the
happiness of being on stage playing?

I think that you answered that question yourself, it depends on the person
and their circumstances
