I browsed through some old posts and it seems a lot of folks liked the

Intellituner IMT-500. Is that still a good choice or are there other
better ones available now? I've got a Goldtone BGT for around the
house and it works fine for that, but I really want a smaller
clamp-on one for other times for banjo and guitar.

Thanks for any advice.

I still liked mine until I lost it at a festival this spring. Replaced it
with one from a local B&M music store. It was virtually identical plastic
package - shape, size, weight, clamp - but it has another brand name.

My experience with these little tuners has been positive, but I've noticed
the accuracy and response degrades noticeably as the battery fades. It isn't
obvious, it doesn't just stop working, still lights up. Replacing the button
battery fixes this. I usually buy a couple and keep a spare in my banjo
case.

Keep a tuning fork in your case for testing.
