Quit Minox totally in mid June ( scalp flaking and itching)
been on propecia April 20th 98 to Today and still going.
Mid October 98 to present began again with 5% w/ betamethasone
just wanted to share my experience. I have posted before what I have now
confirmed. Last year when I started minox 5% within 2 months shedding
drastically slowed. Then I started propecia. Within 4 months of 5% I could
not stand the itching and quit minox. My head looked pretty good at that
point, could not notice any further loss. I never saw what I felt was
regrowth, so I said hell the minox is not working so I stopped and just
continued propecia. As the months 1,2,3 progressed still no sign of the severe
shedding I experienced before I started medical treatments. Around month 4 out
of nowhere I started noticing that hair was accumulating on my desk, keyboard
and sink again. Hmm, so I did the dreaded sink test, I messed up my hair over
the sink and counted how many hairs fell into it. Around 50-60 !!!! Everyday I
could do this. I thaught maybe its a shedding phase or maybe telogen effluvium
as Dr. Lee advised. 1 problem though with this theory I experienced this
BEFORE any medical treatments so I do_not feel it was a shedding phase from
propecia. This went on for 2 -2.5 months before I started Dr. Lee's Minox 5%
w\ Betamethasone for itching. Well AGAIN 2 - 2.5 months down the road the
dreaded sink test only yields 3-5 hairs. This is the SECOND time that this
occured in the SAME time frame. It is obviously minox that is saving my hair.
Also it is NOT telogen effluvium from propecia or shedding phases because
minoxidil would not stop this. Also I have no itching problems due to the
addition of anti-inflammatories in Dr. Lee's new minox. I did not try Xandrox
yet because I wanted to see if it I had the same result as when I began the
first time, no variables involved (except the betameth.) I will continue
taking propecia as I know results may occur in years 1 to 2 years. So my point
is if you dont think minox is working because you do not see regrowth you may
be real surprised to see how MUCH it was saving. If you have not noticed
additional loss while on a treatment(s) do not change anything , unless you are
willing to bet your progress on it !! Also these are my results which we all
know may not ( and probably are not) the case for everyone. If I am seeing
anything wrong or missed something let me know I am open to all opinions.
Take Care,
Vic
Thanks
Dave
