Also.....wonder if there is a way to fix the rear defrost? The wiring
is all correct (since the new tailgate harness' I put in!) and the
light comes on in the button....but seems to have no effect on the
glass itself.

Pull out the idle air control valve, it's mounted to a bracket down
under the intake manifold and flush it out real good with some carb
cleaner. You might find it easiest to pour some in a jar and dunk the
business end of the thing in there and let it soak in the solvent for a
few hours. While that's soaking, clean the throttle body, best thing is
to remove it and give it a good solvent scrub, but with some patience
you can do a passable job on the car.
For the defrost, first thing to do is measure to see if you have voltage
at the terminals on the glass.
