Hesitation?

Hey all.....not sure exactly how to describe this. I've got an 88'
240 wagon. She's been running pretty well after a new alternator,
battery, timing belt, cam seal, valve cover gasket, air filter,
cleaned out flame trap, and brakes. The problem is thus: When I am
backing up, and then come to a stop, before I put it back into drive
or park, the idle goes down, and it seems like it's about to stall.
This happens sometimes when I come to a stop from drive too, before I
hit the gas again. For example, at stop lights it will run a little
irregularly. I'm hoping this isn't too serious....perhaps the fuel
filter? Is there a way to test this without just swapping it out? Or
am I not even close? Any help will be greatly appreciated! Aside
from the timing belt and cam seal, I've been able to do the work
myself....hopefully so with this too!

Also.....wonder if there is a way to fix the rear defrost? The wiring
is all correct (since the new tailgate harness' I put in!) and the
light comes on in the button....but seems to have no effect on the
glass itself.

Pull out the idle air control valve, it's mounted to a bracket down
under the intake manifold and flush it out real good with some carb
cleaner. You might find it easiest to pour some in a jar and dunk the
business end of the thing in there and let it soak in the solvent for a
few hours. While that's soaking, clean the throttle body, best thing is
to remove it and give it a good solvent scrub, but with some patience
you can do a passable job on the car.

For the defrost, first thing to do is measure to see if you have voltage
at the terminals on the glass.

When I first got my poorly maintained '95 850 turbo, I was having the same
type of problem. I changed the transmission fluid and fixed the idle!
Don't know why, but it did.
