The SPECULATION includes an item where she might be going to a national TV
show. Hmmm ...

This would give her exposure and experience and discussion/debating
opportunities with well-placed pollitical pundits. I wonder. Hmmm ...

For my money, Mike Huckabee has a very good show that is worth the video
tape to record it. Perhaps Palin can do the same.

Well, that certainly fits what she said about "serving America outside of
government".

Not.

Once again, your myopia has gotten the best of you. That's easy though, my

You have demonstrated time and time again that you can't see past the end of

Wait. A prominent politician makes a sudden and unexpected
announcement, and there is all sorts of speculation as to WHY she did
it? And why she did it in such an unusual fashion?

Wow, this is truly unexpected. Must be the media persecuting you
again, Sarah.

Yes, depending on several other factors. I already explained why. There are
lots of why-nots, as you infer, but there are some excellent things that can
develop from a stint on a TV or radio show.

Sorry. No dice.

"I also felt that to embrace the conventional Lame Duck status in this
particular climate would just be another dose of politics as usual,
something I campaigned against and will always oppose."

Lame duck status is part of the job, but she's saying it's something she
campaigned against. Illogical, unless you're brain-fried from smoking crack.
Did she not understand that the tail end of her job would, by default,
include lame duck status? Did she campaign against a normal aspect of her
own job?

Of course not. She's lying about something.

Here's here statement again:

"I also felt that to embrace the conventional 'Lame Duck' status in this

something I campaigned against and will always oppose."

Please explain what she meant by that statement. I really don't get it. I'm

I think SNL should do what they did with her before: Parody it, but
actually just do it word-for-word, and see if anyone notices.
Honestly, what could you change about that to make it more

I'm sure I can't (which says more aobut you than I), but here goes ...

I assume you know what a lame duck is.

I also assume you know that Palin has been charged with a dozen acts of
malfeasance -- wearing a jacket with a logo of a company she and Todd buy
stuff from (the charge being that she got a gift), taking her kids on a
plane ride somewhere on Alaska's dime, all sorts of stuff in a similar vein.

I also assume you know that those leveling the charges get to do so at no
cost, or just a few dollars for a filing fee. Palin has to pay to defend
against the charges. Sometimes she pays from her own pocket, but normally
the cost is borne by Alaska. Alaska has paid (I forget the exact sum)
millions of taxpayer dollars to defend her, she has spent a half million of
her own dollars in legal fees.

That describes the climate she is speaking of.

I assume you understand that lame ducks have a very hard time to get
anything done legislatively. Why should anybody support the Gov if the Gov
is gonna be gone soon? A lame duck is often (not always) just a door stop.

So, this brings us to what Palin was talking about. If Palin is a door stop,
why should she hold the door open, or closed, at a cost of millions upon
millions of dollars to defend herself on the State's dime for stuff that she
did not do, or that she did do but is not illegal, but she is charged with
wrong doing anyhow?

Is her resignation questionable? Absolutely. Is it harmful to her? Maybe.
Does it harm the State of Alaska? No.

From a pure money point of view, there is a strong argument that she did the
right thing. Would the legal attacks on her hold steady or increase if she
remained in office? Probably. Will they go away now? Yes. You could argue
that the legal attacks had all played out, and she won them all so should
stay on as Gov. of Alaska. But there is no way to prove that, and the only
prudent thing to do is to think they would continue and maybe increase, so
the cost to the State would remain the same or go up, with no accompanying
benefit from a legislative or executive perspective for the State.

You cannot argue against the notion that she's a door stop -- lame duck --
nor can you argue that the legal fees that the State has paid out are
insignificant. So, given these two basic truths, and the idea that she
abhors "politics as usual," then you cannot argue that she should remain
seated as Governor because politics as usual dictates that a lame duck fly
around in a state-owned jet while the State picks up the tab for legal fees
and jet fuel, and gets nothing legislatively or executively in exchange.

Simply being a lame duck goes with the office, Governor, President, County
Supervisor, Mayor, it does not matter much. The issue for Palin was, should
she remain as a lame duck AND be a target of lawsuits that the State has to
pay for, or save the State millions upon millions of dollars by leaving
early?

Does this present problems for her in 2012? Yes, I think it does. Is she
toast? No.

But she was not a lame duck, she hadn't even finished one term.

I think she probably felt that she could not possibly get re-elected
given Alaskan's disgust with her over essentially abandoning the state
for several months in a campaign that made her look extraordinarly foolish.

If she is not planning to run in 2010, she's a lame duck today. Technically,
I suppose she isn't a lame duck until her successor is elected, but that's a
technicality that is lost on most.

It's not a technicality. It's the definition. It's the 2 months or so after
you're defeated in an election but still have to serve. Since Palin doesn't
fit that definition by a long stretch, she is quitting because she finally
realized she's not fit for the job.

I think she may be planning a primary challenge to Alaska Senator Lisa
Murkowski in 2010. Murkowski is pro-choice, supports stem cell research,
and is in general pro-science. Palin probably believes if Alaskan's were
dumb enough to elect her as governor that they could also elect her as a
senator.

If Palin becomes a senator, she could decide to run for president in
2016. She won't run in 2012. It's very hard to defeat an incumbent
president unless the president is _really_ bad, and unpopular, and
considering Obama's margin of victory it would be unwise to challenge
him in 2012 considering how weak Palin's experience is now. The
Republicans will probably put up only a token opposition candidate in
2012, maybe Newt Gingrich.

But the twit said she wanted to work for change "outside of government".
Either she lied, or she thinks a senate job is "outside of government".
Since she's an evangelist, odds are that she lied.

Maybe if American's finally see the Emperor's clothes, we'll have another
