news. At least one person complained to them (local NPR - the RVO stations)
a week or so ago (the email was read on air) that they had too much MJ
coverage - IIRC, they dedicated one program to him soon after his death.

Not really. I wasn't a fan, but can acknowledge that the guy was the "King
of Pop" & had a lot of talent. Weird as hell, but talented, & he does/did
have a wide fan base. One program dedicated to his work/life seems
reasonable to me. But obviously not to everyone. ;-) It's also possible
that whoever complained was afraid it was a slippery slope - that NPR would
succumb to the same amount of (his) supposed newsworthiness that the rest of
the media has. But that's pretty difficult to envision.

Probably true, but the fact that he led a sordid life doesn't change the
fact that he made some remarkable music at one time. None less than Fred
Astaire and James Brown thought he was pretty remarkable in his early years.
If bizarre behavior negated musical achievments, there wouldn't be many
musicians left to admire. The best ones seem to be drawn to extremes at
times.

The only problem I see is that I have to leave the house and drive all
over the Northeast to *work*.
