I have a 22RE in my truck(86 Pickup) and it's about on it's last leg, so
instead of rebuilding it im consitering a chevy/ford small block engine
swap. i was wondering if anyone has tried this and could give me any
helpfull advice (which trannies to use, chevy or ford engine, firewall need
moved, will there be room for radiator, with what trannies will i need new
differentials, ect). If anyone knows anything about the 22RE to chevy/ford
small block conversion in a '86 or simmilar pickup please let me know.

Thank You,

There is a book available, it outlines most of the common problems you will
encounter. I have the book here somewhere, the biggest issue according to
the book is that you may need a body lift to clear certain things if you
have a 4x4 and plan to keep all the 4x4 equipment.

I'm currently in the process of putting a 4.0 Lexus V8 in a 2wd 85,
hopefully that sucker can fit...it's pretty wide due to the twin cam heads!
The donor car should arrive tomorrow...gonna be a long weekend of measuring
and more measuring!!
