If it hot outside (70 degrees or higher) and I'm driving in the city my 1987 SAAB 9000 gets close to the Hot indicator but if I drive two or more blocks without stopping then it goes back in the middle. Any ideas? ===================== Alvin Carter Birmingham, Alabama 35215-5106

It could be the cooling fan or its thermostat that isn't working.
I would try to connect the fan directly to the 12V ( but first disconnect the thermostat ) and see if it's spinning.
