I just bought a 1987 SAAB 9000.  I love it.   I want to know what the R
button and the INFO button tells you.  I figured out that one is the outside
temperature.  The others are km but what?

You can change it to our messed up system of units if you hold down R and
Info for a few seconds I believe.  I'm not sure what order it's in, but I
believe info cycles through the ambient temperature, gas mileage over the
last 10 (or is it more?) miles, current gas mileage and miles to empty based
on the average gas mileage.  I think.  Sadly it's been a few months since
I've taken my '86 9000 for a ride.  Only bad thing about college is not
having my car with me =x

mileage that can be done with the remaining gas in the car
average fuel consumption (I think in the US it is miles per gallon, in
Europe it is l/100km).

If you push the R button (together with the info button or not, I am not
sure) for a few seconds the average fuel consumption is reset.  At that
point he changes the fuel consumption every 10 kms, after a few 100 kms
every 100 km.

Nearly. The average fuel consumption is calculated over the distance
travelled since the unit was last reset. There is also a battery voltage
function.

The R button resets the average fuel consumption figure, and the DTE
will be re-calculated using the new average consumption figure. You are
correct in saying that pressing INFO and R together will change the
units of measurement.
