I'm considering purchasing a Kwik-Lift and looking for some user feedback, I
know I can ask the manufacturer but I'm looking for a more unbiased
perspective;
- If I wanted to use the area it's in, how easily can it be moved, does the
lift bar have to come out to move it? Can the ramps be easily moved without
splitting them? It looks like the drop out of the front support with a long
pin, is that correct?
- How difficult is it to reach under the hood of a typical late model car
when it's on the lift, say for filling oil during an oil change, how about a
truck?
- How well does the cross-beam jacking plate work? If you are tying to
lubricate suspension parts and have to move them around to take grease is
the plate and jack stands in the way. Can you use 2 plates simultaneously to
rotate tires?
- Will it damage or bend the lift to leave a car on it in the raised
position for extended periods of time ? I've seen their scheme for using it
as a parking space, but for my use, the car I would keep on it isn't used
frequently and when it is driven, most of the time it would be to put a
different car on the lift so it would be quicker and easier just to drop it
and drive off, versus move the ramps and bocks and re-attach the front
supports.
- All things considered, price, quality, ease of use, portable-ness, etc.
is it a reasonable option for somebody that doesn't have the headroom for a
lift, doesn't want to chop up concrete for an in-ground option and is not
interested in scissor lifts.
TIA for any information

I'm not terribly impressed with these examples, but if that is what
you need, I'd guess they will work for you. I'd call the manufacturer
and ask your questions about portability, but it seems that they are
easy to work with.

That said, I've a 10K Rotary two post lift, and can't see using
something like this. But if you have no headroom, then that's life.

You may be just as well off with a really good floor jack and four
good jack stands.

I'm looking to create additional floor space in my garage with a 4
post lift (or something else if anyone has a better idea).

I've sent away for info from Dannmar.

http://www.dannmar.com/dannmar-products/four-post-lifts.html

When I sent away, I didn't realize that they were sold at costco and
northern, so now I'm wondering a bit about the quality.

When looking at a lift to permanently park one of my expensive
belongings on top of another of my expensive belongings (not to
mention my own head), cost isn't a the top of the list, so I'm
wondering if anyone has one of these and their impression of the
quality and safety aspects, and if anyone has suggestions or
preferences for another manufacturer?

What should I be looking for?

thanks,
tom

I do very well with a Rotary 10K 2-post lift. Right now I've a VW on
it, with a Saab under (for the winter). When I need to use the lift,
the cars are easy to get off.

For a lift, I think you will find a two post better, more clearance,
and it makes suspension/tire work much easier.
