It's 98 outside here in NY (July 5, 2010) and it would be nice to turn the
heat off in the '87 924 S.

Is there a fuse ? The control sliders long since stopped working. To make
matters much worse the windows stopped working some time ago too.

turn off the water valve under the hood. or learn to fix your car - you
have a really nice car and letting it fall apart is almost criminal. but if
you want to be cheap, put a clamp on the hot water inlet to the heater and
crimp it off.

Bill:

It's still on the road, and the time, energy, personal work and money
I've spent keeping it there lifts me above the criminal class just a bit.
No fuse just for the heater moter ? The schematics I've found are not clear.

there is a white plastic clip, it costs 35 cents at the dealer, which is
probably the source of your problem. Yes there is a fuse for the fan motor,
you can pull the fuse, if you want. These are easy cars to work on, I've
kept a number running since new, but only 944s, no 24s - but I am presuming
the 87s are all pretty much the same. look for the 944 heater white clip

There is a clip that comes undo or breaks with time. Look under the dash on
the drivers side near where your right leg would be. There is a metal rod
connected to a flapper where the air comes out. The other end of the rod is
connected to another arm by a plastic bushing. This plastic bushing is
probably broken.
