Drive shaft, clutch or transmission ? 1986 944 86k I get a "clunking" noise from below then I let out the clutch peddle and accelerate - sometimes. It happens only once per shift, and not always. Thereafter the car accelerates normally, with no other odd sounds

Does anyone know if a 86 transmission will fit properly (function) on a 84 944? If it does fit is there a way to use the speedometer function off the newer transmission? Last question is there any affordable quality work 944 transmission rebuilders in the northern virginia that you can recommend. Thanks... more »

recirculation button : working or not

'87 n.a. i'm trying to figure out if my recirc button is actually making air recirculate. i have the glove box off - on the side of the heater core, i seem to have located a small enclosure that's connected by vacuum lines (?), that makes a sharp "click" sound when i press the recirc button. seems like a solenoid, but the vac lines... ? and it seems like... more »
