My 1999 2.0i petrol Sportage misfires when the engine starts, either hot or cold. I've changed the plugs, air filter and fuel filter. The engine has only covered 36,000 miles. Any suggestions as to what the problem might be?

Did you check the wires and coils? The coils are particularly prone to cracking on the towers.
If those aren't the problem, I'd suspect fuel injectors. I've seen a few sportages with rusting fuel tanks that muck with the injectors.

I would check the plug wires.
